One of our recent films for @streetx & @reebokau_nz ⚽️

We’re so grateful to have worked on these shorts. The whole team came correct on each project, and I think it’s safe to say we didn’t miss.

On a personal note, it’s brought so much joy to my heart that we could put my dad in the spotlight as the main character. The old man got to show off all his old trophies once again. Shout out to the team for making that happen, and shout out to the goat, Bryan Baker.

Walmatjarri and Bunuba artist Kayps delivers a powerful meditation on identity, culture and belonging in this week’s Feature Video, ‘765’.

“‘765’ is a really personal track for me, so we wanted the video to feel like a visual extension of that journey.” explains twenty year old Kayps about the lead single from his upcoming debut album BUNUBA BABY. “A lot of the album's video concepts came from this feeling of existing between different worlds - being proud of my culture while also carrying the confusion and distance that came from not always feeling fully connected to it growing up.”

Featuring expansive open air settings, pixelated faces and one very intense game of chess, Kayps explains, “we used locations and imagery that reflected both isolation and belonging, trying to capture that push and pull between where you've come from and where you're trying to get to. The whole process became less about telling a story and more about showing the emotions behind reconnecting with family, Country and identity.”

Clip director Joel Baker mirrors this sentiment, saying "when conceptualising ‘765’, our aim was to create something that appeared simple on the surface while carrying significant symbolism beneath. The track itself delivers a powerful and weighty message, and we wanted to ensure that nothing in the visual presentation distracted from its impact.”

“We chose to portray hate speech as the central antagonist of the film without directly amplifying or engaging with its harmful message. The use of pixelation became a key visual device, symbolising our refusal to give attention, recognition, or visibility to individuals and ideologies rooted in hate.” by @betterbreadtv

We’d like to give a huge thank you to Woodvale Secondary College for inviting us to come in and talk to the current media students. As a former Woodvale student, it was a very surreal experience to come back after 10 years and discuss what we have achieved since 2016.

Here’s a recap on some absolute yapping from Joel Baker that these poor youths had to endure.
