Your 3pm craving isn’t a discipline problem. It’s a hormonal one. Here’s what’s actually happening: cortisol sends a direct signal for sugar and fat, then stores what you don’t burn straight into your midsection. (Read that again.) 🛑 It’s not a snack problem. It’s a stress hormone wearing a snack’s disguise. 👉🏾 You can’t diet your way out of a cortisol problem, restriction just adds another stressor to a system that’s already overloaded. What actually moves it: protect one thing today. Sleep. A walk at lunch. Protein before 10am. Pick one. Most people skip this because it feels too small to matter. It’s not small. It’s the one lever cortisol actually responds to. by @betterchoicesco

3 lessons that changed everything…. Eric and I started our journey in 2006 and lost 300 pounds combined. The first 100 came off in 10 months. The real work was the 19 years since, learning to keep it off without giving up the foods we love. These are the 3 lessons that changed everything, and the ones almost every new client learns first. The plan didn’t get lazy. Your hormones changed the job description. Here’s the actual mechanism: estrogen plays a real role in how your body uses insulin, stores fat, and holds onto muscle. When it declines, all three shift at once, insulin resistance creeps up, fat storage moves toward the midsection, and muscle becomes harder to hold onto without deliberate effort. (Read that again.) 🛑 That’s not a motivation problem. That’s your biochemistry running on a different operating system than it was at 35. The fix isn’t more discipline on the old plan, it’s a new plan built for the body you actually have now. Start here: protein at every meal, aim for 25-30g each time, not just at dinner. Protein is the one lever that directly supports the muscle preservation estrogen used to help with. Most people respond to this by doing more of what already isn’t working, cutting more, moving more, white-knuckling the same plan harder. That’s not the lever that moves for this specific problem. Save this for the next time you blame yourself for a plan that was never built for this season. 🧩 by @betterchoicesco
