Sometimes it’s cool when your camera decides to not work correctly. The black and white photos appear to be three separate photos in one.

Red beads shine across my heart as whisky slips down the lips of my lover’s face. Stuck in a fixed position, we sit worshiping a former faith for comfort. Locked in a stare of warm breath, the moldy-yellow walls share a hundred years worth of stories. Curiosity detailed in graffiti, our concrete dance will be detailed on these city bones one day, too. by @betterthanyourdad

I was sniffing a flower, but then I snorted a bug.

Three weeks from today I’ll be leaving Texas and moving to Brooklyn. My internship has been an experience to say the least, but I’m almost done and ready to begin this next chapter in life or what eva. by @betterthanyourdad

I’ve done a poor job at posting photos from the past year of my life. So, here is a random assortment of newsroom things, collage making, family, friends, film and my sister’s wedding.

If you’ve supported me in any way for the past year, please know every time you had to deal with my stress, sleepless nights or political drama, you are the reason I won these awards. I wouldn’t be reporter of the year, have over 30 awards and multiple scholarships without all of you, especially my staff. Thank you, collegian staff, for believing in me when I would change everything we planned for last minute on a print/production day. The excellent newspaper award truly goes to all of you. by @betterthanyourdad

In honor of International Women’s Day, I’m shouting myself out. I’ve put in a lot of blood, sweat, ink and tears in my work these past two years. Life’s been shit, but a lot of good shit has manifested, too. I haven’t had a day off in I don’t know how long. I work at a diner, investigate policies, go to class, analyze data, work out, break news and cook, clean and pay my bills. Not asking for a prize or for any of you to actually read this and care. I’m doing this for myself, by myself and am succeeding at it fairly well. In other news, I won another national award. by @betterthanyourdad
