Over the weekend, ICE carried out immigration raids at multiple places across L.A., including Ambiance Apparel in downtown Los Angeles and Home Depot stores in MacArthur Park and Cypress Park, as well as near school graduations. Reports indicate that dozens were detained.

Amid protests confronting these raids, the administration has deployed National Guard troops to Los Angeles.

Bet Tzedek condemns these militarized actions against families simply trying to live and work in peace.

Everyone deserves to live free from fear, not be targeted in random sweeps or made part of a spectacle.

The number of aging parents caring for dependent adult children is on the rise.

When a dependent child reaches adulthood, parents and caregivers no longer have automatic legal authority to make decisions about healthcare and finances unless they are court-appointed guardians or conservators.

Through guardianship or conservatorship, families can plan ahead and stay prepared to help support them, including managing finances and accessing benefits such as Social Security.
