Hi, I’m Charu 🌻

And this is between.heas — a quiet corner for MM romance, from soft comfort reads to darker stories, always HEA-leaning 🌈

I’ve loved reading for as long as I can remember.
It began with The Faraway Tree, Nancy Drew, and The Hardy Boys, slowly growing into Pride & Prejudice, Little Women, and Mills & Boon.
Later came my love for sci-fi, thrillers, and mysteries — which led me to Dan Brown, Ashwin Sanghi, and many more page-turning authors.

And then, in 2022, I discovered MM romance — and my world quietly shifted.

Reading about two men falling in love, being vulnerable, finding each other, and earning their HEAs against all odds made me fall in love with reading all over again 🌈
I think my love for books also comes from the fact that the world can be heavy, life can feel mundane — and stories give me a place to escape.
A place where I can simply exist.
Without worries.
Without responsibilities.

I read for the moments between the pages —
the longing, the chaos, the tenderness —
and finally, the relief of a happy ending.

I’ve always wanted to talk about the books I love… and even the ones I don’t.

But growing up in a society where there’s an unspoken fear of what people will think, I was never brave enough to openly talk about my favourite MM books.

For a long time, I thought about starting a page like this — a space where I could share my love for stories ❤️
And then something happened in Nov–Dec (no points for guessing 😉) — Heated Rivalry (this deserves a separate post)

I had read the books earlier but watching the show and being part of that fandom gave me the courage to finally be here and talk about books openly.

I’m starting this page faceless for now — with books, cosy moods, and spoiler-free thoughts ☕📖
I’m hopeful I’ll find my little book family here 🩷

Some stories don’t just stay with you, they open something you didn’t know needed opening.

Heated Rivalry, the show, did that for me.

I first read the book in 2023, and it touched me in a way very few books ever have. Back then, I was okay keeping my thoughts and feelings to myself. But as I kept reading more MM romances, those feelings began to grow.. heavy, tender, and hard to carry alone.

When the show aired in November, it left me with too many emotions, too many thoughts and nowhere to put them.

I was part of the fandom, and yet, quietly, alone with it all.
Somewhere between the episodes, the glances, and the silences, I realised I wanted a space to talk about the stories that move me-freely, honestly, and without apology.

This page was born from that need.
For connection.
For softness.
For stories that hold longing and chaos, and still choose love.
Some stories stay.

And this one will always feel like home 🤍

So, I just want to thank @rachelreidwrites for writing Shane & Ilya’s story, and @jacob.tierney for making the show so beautiful, it truly changed my life.
Finally, thank you to @hudsonwilliamsofficial and @connorstorrieofficial for portraying the most heartfelt, honest versions of Shane and Ilya one could ever ask for 💖💖💖

There are maybe a handful of authors who build a world I actually want to step into. Lark is one of them, and I'm fully obsessed with this series now.

Rami finds his mate Ethan dying on the road. He heals him, and in the process heals him of a terminal illness too. Only problem — Ethan already has a boyfriend, and tells Rami right away. So a heartbroken Rami, lets him go.

Enter the Seraphim's plan to weave Rami back into Ethan's life, no suspicion attached. And it works.

What follows is the swooniest, most patient courtship, because Rami wants Ethan to choose HIM, not the bond, Him.

Evil plot? Yes. Seraphim, demons, and some unexpected help teaming up to win? Also yes.

Quill and Ethan's friendship might be my favorite part of this whole book 🩷

The Buckinghams did it again and I am not okay 😭

Rowan is buried in guilt over his best friend's death, with no clue someone else blames him too 🤔🤔
Samson is sent to kill him... until he watches Rowan dance and just. cannot. So instead he starts stalking him (affectionately) and realizes The Firm got the wrong guy entirely.

What follows is Samson trying to protect Rowan and clear his name while Rowan has no idea how much danger he's actually in, all while being the (hot & dangerous) distraction Rowan never let himself have. Rowan thinks he doesn't deserve happiness. Samson is determined to prove him wrong 🥹

And Samson himself?? Used to be a total mama's boy who loved dancing and stuffed animals before it was beaten out of him which turned him into the grumpy assassin we met in the last book.

Watching Rowan help him find his joy again absolutely destroyed me.

The Harley/Rowan friendship 🤝 the found family with the Buckinghams 🤝 me sobbing 😭 😭

Cora and Lark are already setting up what's next and I am SO excited 😍

Oooooooo this one absolutely wrecked me in the best way🔥

A few days ago, I got the privilege of reading the ARC of Monstrous Serpent by @evolsenbooks and let me tell you it was everything I needed.

I love dark.. dark romance, unhinged MCs, a possessive claiming storyline gets me feral all the time and this one was right there.

Cody plays hockey, doubts himself way more than he should, and gets chased through the woods by two masked men who decide he's theirs. Enter Altas and Hunter, dangerous best friends from Cody's rival team, and honestly? Let them have him.

Their banter, their backstories and the way they protect each other no matter what 😭😭

And don't even get me started on the spice, some of the best I've read🔥🔥

Bonus: Cody's little brother Davis is the most loveable brat and I want to steal him.

I already need the rest of this series like yesterday.

Okay WHAT did I just read😭♥️ Love at First Fright by @tjroseauthor is a horror mm romcom and I trusted TJ's writing so much that I went into it without even thinking about my fear of ghosts (sorry i'm a very scaredy cat). But this book exceeded all my expectations. It made me laugh, full on bawl and some scenes gave me chills, and once again, I DO NOT DO HORROR!!

Charlie has been struggling for years, no job lasts more than 3 months, bills piling up and no one to fall back on. He joins the ExorSquad as a spirit exterminator, mind you he doesn't believe in ghosts, and he is sent to Grimthorne Manor along with resident exterminator Brad, to clear out the ghosts.

There he meets Bat, a ghost who doesn't remember how he died and ended up in the manor. As usual Bat along with the other ghosts of the manor are set on sending Charlie and Brad running, but Charlie plays Bat's guitar once and Bat is GONE, making it his whole dead existence's mission to win over Charlie and protect him from manor's evil spirit and SPIDERS 🕷️

It's Casper meets Ghosts meets Ghostbusters but the romance is woven into a full murder mystery and it WORKS so well. Lady Grimthorne, Molly, Henry, Rosemary, Thomas, Edmund and MARGERY (YASS Queen) rounded it out perfectly. And the spice?? Spiced.

The message hits hard too - love really does win over everything, no matter how evil the power against it is. I'd watch the whole movie made on this and I NEVER watch horror. PLEASE go read this and thank me later!!

And yes, I would have made 10 more slides on it!
