My sweet Lacsi.. we lost her last night to congestive heart failure. She came to us 5 years ago. Rescued in Honduras where she lived in a garbage dump… she had heart worm like many stray dogs in the tropics. Be sure to give your dogs heart worm prevention. It’s a terrible disease. by @betzbernhard

Kimono remnants in the mist.
A long story.
Many vintage kimonos were stored in mothballs in Japan. It’s impossible to get rid of the odor of naphthalene which is very toxic. I took the kimonos to be commercially washed and the odor persisted. Hanging them outside for months was suggested to me by a knowledgeable fiber artist. #timewilltell by @betzbernhard

A small hand stitched piece 7.5 x 7.5. I made this piece after taking an online workshop with Debra Weiss from specksandkeepings. The wonderful quilter Zak Foster put on the workshop with Debra. Both of these artists create wonderful work. This is my first hand sewn piece. I love the way the fabric puckers using Debra’s technique of sewing based on kantha quilting. My piece took on a 3 dimensional sculptural element. Thank you Debra and Zak!
I payed out this little piece in the beginning of June when it looked like COVID was receding and an open summer was ahead. Then my father died and COVID returned. I put the piece away because it seemed too cheerful and didn’t reflect my state of mind. But I returned to it this month for Zak’s unblock of the month. It seems like a hopeful piece and it feels right to me now.

Hamsa #1 .. 26 x 33
First in a series based on Hamsa amulets. They’re used as protection by Jews and Muslims. So much to protect ourselves from currently.
