Took this picture on 3 November 2024 in Chiang Mai. It was also the day I silently decided to resign from one of the most toxic work environments I’d ever been in.

I had no plan, no certainty, and no idea what life would look like on the other side. But something in me knew I couldn’t keep sacrificing myself for a job that was costing me my peace and health.

I wish I could tell the version of me in this picture that things would work out the way they needed to. That one day, I’d look back and understand why I had to go through it all. I was exhausted, and I had no idea what was next. But for the first time in a long time, I was finally choosing myself. taken in Chiang Mai, Thailand by @bevan_wu

Four years in Bangkok, and four years of @bmorebarbers.bkk. I’ve lived in different parts of the city, my routine has changed more times than I can count, and life has definitely gone through a few different chapters, but somehow this has remained consistent. There’s something incredible about having a place where people know you, know your hair and probably know far too much about your life by now. Things go wrong. Flights get cancelled. Connections are missed. Hotels get overbooked.

But when it does go wrong, who do you actually lean on?

The online portal where you booked your flights and accommodation? The one that gives you a chat function, no phone number, no real person to speak to, and leaves you feeling like you’re just another booking number in a queue?

Travel is more than booking a flight and a hotel. It’s having someone who knows your trip, knows what’s happening, and actually picks up when you need help.

Because when things go wrong, you don’t need another chatbot.

There’s staying at a hotel, and then there’s experiencing true hospitality.

A handwritten note from the team at AYANA Komodo genuinely made me a little teary. In a world where so much of hospitality can feel polished, scripted and transactional, something this simple felt incredibly personal.
