We are looking for NIL clients.

Your name is your brand. Your nickname is your brand. Your logo and your catchphrase are your brand.

Sponsors pay for these. Fans remember these. Sellers print these on merchandise.

Do you own them?

A trademark registration gives you ownership nationwide. Without a registration, someone else files your nickname first, and you fight to get the nickname back.

Do not wait for the first deal. File before the first offer, the first viral moment, or the first merch drop.

Monday, October 12 is a federal holiday.

Here is the rule. If a USPTO deadline lands on a weekend or a federal holiday, you get until the next business day. A deadline on any other day does not move.

Open your docket this week. List every date for your applications and registrations. Include response deadlines, Statement of Use dates, and renewal windows. Set a reminder two weeks before each date.

A missed date abandons an application or cancels a registration. Check your dates today.

Two ways to file a trademark.

One fits businesses already selling. One fits businesses still getting ready to launch.

Filing early locks in your spot before your first sale. After you get approved, you confirm your use with one more form.

Pick the one that matches where your business is today. The wrong choice causes delays and can put your whole application at risk.

Not sure which one fits you? Ask us. by @beverlybeallaw

AI made creating content faster. It did not make intellectual property law disappear.

I’m seeing more entrepreneurs use AI for their websites, ebooks, courses, social media, graphics, product designs, and marketing.

Here’s what I want you to pay attention to.

Using AI does not automatically give you the same copyright rights you would have with fully human-created work.

Your prompts, creative direction, human edits, selection, arrangement, and original contributions matter.

You also need to think about what information you give an AI platform, what material you upload, and whether you have permission to use the material involved.

If your business depends on an ebook, course, design, software, video, written content, or other creative asset, understand your intellectual property rights before you build your business around it.

AI is a business tool.

Your intellectual property still needs a strategy.

Using AI in your business? Let’s talk about protecting the intellectual property behind your brand.

Let me tell you something. If you’re building a business, PLEASE don’t wait until someone steals your name or copies your brand before thinking about intellectual property.

I’ve seen business owners pour their hearts, time, and money into building something of their own. The logo, the name, the products, the reputation. All those late nights and sacrifices.

But here’s the question I want you to ask yourself: What happens when someone else starts using the name you’ve worked so hard to build?

And trust me, fixing a legal problem after it happens is often more expensive and stressful than taking steps to protect your brand early.
As an IP attorney, this is one conversation I wish I could have with every entrepreneur. Your brand has value, and protecting it should be part of your business plan from day one.

So, before you invest more money into your brand, let’s talk about protecting what you’ve built.

Ready to take that step? Book your Trademark Search & Consultation for only $175

You have the keys. The sign goes up soon. Your opening date sits on the calendar.

Now check the legal side in two parts.

Part one: your location. Detroit sets rules for licensing, zoning, inspections, and permits. Your business type decides which rules apply.

Part two: your name. A Michigan business registration does not give you trademark rights. Only a federal trademark registration protects your name nationwide. Search your name before you order signage, print menus, or announce your grand opening. A name conflict after launch means new signs, new materials, and lost customer recognition.

Before opening day, research the property and zoning. Confirm your licenses, permits, and inspections. Review your lease and insurance requirements. Search your business name for conflicts. File your trademark application.

Your grand opening should celebrate your business, not start your compliance problems.

Trademark classes define what your registration protects. Miss the right class and a competitor sells under your name in a different category. Review every product and service line before you file.

Not my legal background + lifelong love for IP casually landing me on the Create & Cultivate stage.

Not me speaking in front of hundreds of women, founders, business owners + investors like this is a totally normal day.

Not me doing it in full Alaïa. 💅🏽

Not me being VERY nervous… only to put that headset on and suddenly turn into an early 2000s pop star. 🎤😭

Not me having an entire activation for my drink company @drinkfineline because apparently one career wasn’t enough.

And definitely not me walking away feeling nothing but grateful for @createcultivate for trusting me with the stage and giving me the opportunity to share what I know, what I’ve built, and what I’m still building. 🤍

And because every good moment needs a dream team behind it — the best PR team, period. @fanofyourbrand

Anyway… somebody get me another headset. 🎤✨ by @beverlybeallaw

Big update for LLC owners 👀

Remember all those urgent reminders about filing a Beneficial Ownership Information (BOI) report? As of August 11, 2026, FinCEN issued a final rule exempting U.S.-formed companies from that federal reporting requirement. If your LLC was formed here in the States, you likely don’t need to file anymore.

But before you check “compliance” off your list completely — this doesn’t mean your legal to-do list is empty. Your state annual report, business licenses, registered agent info, and tax obligations are all still very much active requirements.

There’s also a bigger lesson here: a lot of BOI info still floating around online is already outdated. Regulations change constantly, and what was true when you formed your LLC might not be true today.

If it’s been a while since you reviewed your LLC’s legal foundation, consider this your sign. 📋

Founders confuse these three protections often.

A trademark covers your brand identity.
A copyright covers your creative content.
A patent covers a new invention.

Know the difference before you file the wrong application.

Most businesses need more than one. A name, a logo, original content, and an invention can all sit inside the same business, each one needing its own protection.

“Just Do It” is not just a tagline. It is a registered trademark.

Nike registered that phrase decades ago, the same way it registered its name and logo. A slogan tied closely to a brand earns the same legal protection as a name, when it meets the standard for distinctiveness.

Founders often register a business name and stop there. A strong slogan builds recognition just as fast, and an unprotected slogan gives a competitor room to borrow it.

Review every piece of your brand identity: name, logo, and slogan. Each one carries value worth protecting.

Send us your slogan and we check if it qualifies. by @beverlybeallaw

A rejected trademark application costs you time and money. Most rejections trace back to the same three mistakes.

Skipping the name search. Filing under the wrong class. Choosing a name too generic to protect.

Search your name first. Pick the right class.

Choose a name strong enough to stand on its own. Small errors cause big delays that push your registration back by months.

Save this before you file. Send us a message and we check your application before you submit it. by @beverlybeallaw
