Machu Picchu (as we know it today) - built by Pachacútec.

An explorer Hiram Bingham III encountered Machu Picchu in 1911, he was looking for a different city, known as Vilcabamba. This was a hidden capital to which the Inca had escaped after the Spanish conquistadors arrived in 1532. Over time it became famous as the legendary Lost City of the Inca. Bingham spent most of his life arguing that Machu Picchu and Vilcabamba were one and the same, a theory that wasn’t proved wrong until after his death in 1956.

Some research shows that this was a place to worship (sun temple, universe temple), a place to stay for the emperor and other people, a school for the boys and girls from royal families to study, and agricultural activities amongst many others.

The Spanish were never able to discover this site due to its location hidden in the jungle. The Inka's were very advanced with their construction and the way they lived.

Thanks to a local boy named Pablito who showed this site to Hiram Bingham III who later went on to show it to the world.

The real purpose or the original name of Machu Picchu is unknown, however it will forever remain in my heart 🇵🇪❤️.

So glad I got the opportunity to climb the mountain opposite the Paramount Pictures Mountain (Artesonraju). This was 4200m above sea leveI. I nearly cried with happiness. One of the best moments in my life.

Dedicating this to everyone that has been good to me. Everyone else can get fucked.
