Happy Autumn Equinox. Yesterday was really special and I performed an Ancient Greek / Ancient Slavic ritual for my favorite season. Had there been any celebration in Ancient Egypt history, it would have been included. There was nothing pertaining to the Equinox. And my last ritual was celebrating the Ancient Egyptian New Year the beginning of September. I was in Death Valley, California the day before and I stopped on the way back and walked into the vastly beautiful, magnificent mountainous, historical desert on the drive home and picked up 16 different rocks and stones. I gave a little desert plant some water for my gifts. I added quite a few of them to my ritual tonight, pertaining to a specific goddess that it would work well with. I spent three odd hours when I got the energy at around midnight till 3:00 in the morning and thoroughly researched these ancient beauties (there were some rare beauties) between 10,000 to 300 million years old. I also researched the land dinosaurs as well as any creature that would have been in the air or in the sea that was covering the desert at that time. In my research at the end I included the town that I live in, which is an hour East of Death Valley. I have seen quite a few of these pieces in my area as well. And then of course I couldn't fall asleep because all I kept thinking about were these beasts that were living where I live. I guess until you really get so much information in your head, your thoughts are small compared to actually having an abundance of knowledge. And truly how fucking amazing and mind-blowing it was so long ago. We are so small in comparison to where we came from. With all the knowledge that we have we are destroying so much of the natural amazement that fills my heart and soul since I was a little girl. ๐Ÿ ๐Ÿง™โ€โ™€๏ธ๐Ÿ‚๐Ÿ“œ๐Ÿ—๏ธ๐Ÿ–ค๐Ÿ”ฎ by @bewitchingcreation

LEO SEASON. I'M HERE!! I started my main blog in 2009, the first post was about the film Born Free. It's always meant so much to me. I remember in my youth watching this film and thinking about Lions, humans, the vastness of Africa and what we can do with love and devotion even for a wild beast. I always was a witch. I just never knew what it was. I have had sight since I was a little girl and so much more that isn't needed to be spoken about on this post. I am a Solitary Polytheistic Pagan Witch by choice, through research, the pantheon that I have chosen to not only be a guide for me but for me to lean on in this thing we call life. Although I do believe we have more than one... This season is so deep within me. I am a Leo Gemini Leo and had I not gotten involved with my true inners I never would have known so much because I never would have known to look more than I already was looking, questioning and trying to figure myself out. In my kitchen alone, simply having an apothecary. I always should have had one. I always had all the bits and pieces, the same with my main altar which I've shared here. I do my rituals in my library it's catty corner to my main altar and holds my main ancestor altar and many photos. I have a 2nd ancestor altar in my Hearth room for my maternal family. I barely had to purchase anything but the bare minimum for my practice. I do get photos printed of AI pictures of goddesses because I'm not going to tear the ones out of my vintage books in my Egyptian library which is at my main altar. I'm not going to take pictures of them because to me I find that to be invasive. I love my 11 goddesses. I love ancient Egypt. I love ancient Greece. I have two Slavic goddesses in my Pantheon for my maternal family. I've always been fascinated with the moons, the sea and the vast world of open land that is out there that has been walked upon and sailed upon long before anything was written. I'm thrilled it has been written as much as it has because I learned so much, this is my Gemini. โฌ‡๏ธcont. by @bewitchingcreation

Visitors can now descend 46 feet underground into the newly reopened tomb of Amenhotep III, one of ancient Egyptโ€™s most powerful rulers. Closed to the public for over two decades, the 3,400-year-old site officially reopened just ahead of the historic debut of the Grand Egyptian Museum.

A King Who Ruled at Egyptโ€™s Peak

๐Ÿ–ค Amenhotep III ascended the throne as a teenager and ruled for nearly 38 years, from around 1390 to 1350 BCE, during the height of the 18th Dynasty. His reign left behind temples, palaces, and statues that historians still study today. Among these monuments are the Colossi of Memnon near Luxor, a pair of large stone figures that once guarded his mortuary temple.

The official reopening of the site took place on October 4, 2025, strategically timed just weeks ahead of the long awaited debut of the Grand Egyptian Museum near the Giza Pyramids on November 1, 2025.

French engineers Prosper Jollois and Eฬdouard de Villiers du Terrage first located the tomb inย 1799ย duringย Napoleonโ€™s Egyptian campaign. British archaeologist Howard Carter later conducted a full excavation in 1915. By then, however, looters had stripped the chamber bare centuries earlier.

โ€œThe tomb was discovered in 1799, then rediscovered in 1915. It was found empty, having been looted before.โ€

โ€” Mohamed Ismail, secretary-general of Egyptโ€™s Supreme Council of Antiquities, during the launch.ย

What survived the looting

๐Ÿ–คEven without its original treasures, the tomb still shows remarkable splendor. Vibrant, weathered paintings line the walls alongside sacred hieroglyphs drawn from the Book of the Dead. These texts were intended to guide the pharaoh safely into the afterlife.

โ€œThe tomb is a fascinating wonder.โ€

โ€” Ismail.

โ€œYou can still see the frame of the stolen sarcophagus box, with its lid preserved in the place where it once rested.โ€

The restoration ran in three distinct phases over more than 20 years, with teams working from 2001 to 2004, 2010 to 2012, and 2023 to 2024. A collaboration of Egyptian, Japanese, and international teams led the effort. ๐Ÿ‘‘๐Ÿ‡ช๐Ÿ‡ฌ by @bewitchingcreation

On this day, in the year 1692, a panel of nine women and one male surgeon entered the Salem jail to examine the bodies of Bridget Bishop, Rebecca Nurse, Alice Parker, Sarah Good, Elizabeth Proctor and Susannah Martin.

They were searching for a witch's mark, a blemish left by demonic contact. During this period, it was believed witches often had animal companions, known as familiars. These creatures were said to suckle on the witch they served, leaving behind evidence of this connection. The appearance of such a mark was never standard. To the untrained eye, it was said, they could look like any ordinary wart, birth marks, freckles, etc.

This humiliating search spared no private place. After the morning's examination, the panel reported an odd "excrescence of flesh" on the genitals of Bridget Bishop, Rebecca Nurse, and Elizabeth Proctor. Though the most experienced of the present women, a practiced midwife, found nothing unnatural in the search, particularly given Goody Nurse's explanation that the marks were from a difficult childbirth, the others were suspicious.

Their concerns appeared further confirmed when the women were examined again later that afternoon, their bodies now apparently clear of the strange discoveries from that morning.

As today Bridget Bishop was the first to be tried by the newly created Court of Oyer and Terminer, the timing of this evidence did not bode well for her case. Combined with decades of gossip of long-held suspicion, Bridget Bishop was found guilty. ๐Ÿ˜ญ๐Ÿง™๐Ÿผโ€โ™€๏ธ๐Ÿ–ค๐Ÿ•ฏ๏ธ by @bewitchingcreation

"A skeptical mayor leads the superstitious residents of a cursed New England island." And that's not the half of it. Is anybody else watching? I really love the lead actor @thematthewrhys (and his wife) and they have certainly picked a great cast of characters to play with him. ๐Ÿ–ค by @bewitchingcreation

This is what I just celebrated in the welcoming of Spring.๐ŸŒฑ And how exciting during the beautiful ๐ŸŒ‘๐Ÿง™๐Ÿผโ€โ™€๏ธ๐Ÿช„In ancient Egypt, the period of late April and early May aligns with the transition into the season of Shemu (the Season of Harvest and Low Water). While Egyptโ€™s calendar was primarily tied to the rising of the Nile, this specific time of year centered on the goddess Renenutet and the god Min.ย  โ€‹โœจThe Festival of Renenutet โ€‹On the first day of the month of Pakhon (which falls roughly in late April/early May), Egyptians celebrated the festival of Renenutet, the cobra-goddess of the harvest and fertility.ย  โœจโ€‹The Birthday of Grain: This day was considered the birthday of Nepri, the personification of grain.ย  โœจโ€‹The Ritual: Farmers would bring the first fruits of the harvest and sheaves of grain to the temple of Renenutet. Because she was a cobra goddess, she was believed to protect the granaries from rodents and pests.ย  โœจThe Feast of Min Min was the god of the desert, virility, and the growth of crops. His major festival usually occurred during the first month of Shemu.ย  โœจThe Lettuce Offering: Interestingly, the sacred plant of Min was prickly lettuce. Ancient Egyptians believed it was an aphrodisiac and offered it to the god to ensure the continuation of life.ย  โœจThe Procession: The Pharaoh would lead a massive procession where a white bull (symbolizing strength) was paraded, and "The Raising of the Willow" ceremony took place to symbolize the strength of the backbone of Egypt. โœจShemu (The Low Water) By late April, the Nile would be at its lowest point. This was a time of intense heat and hard work in the fields. โœจThe "Smelling of the Breeze": This ancient tradition, known today as Sham El-Nessim, has roots going back nearly 4,500 years. Ancient Egyptians would celebrate the "rebirth" of the year by heading to the riverbanks to eat salted fish (feseekh), onions, and eggs.ย  โœจThe Eggs: Much like modern traditions, they would paint eggs and hang them in baskets, believing they were symbols of the "cosmic egg" from which the sun-god Ra was born.ย  ๐Ÿ–ค๐ŸŒพ๐Ÿ“œ๐Ÿ‡ช๐Ÿ‡ฌ๐Ÿ๐Ÿ”ฎ by @bewitchingcreation
