Acupuncturist & Practical Nurse Breath/Meditation/Movement Teacher *Mental health & chronic illness focus*
Neurodivergent Oversharer 😘
POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED
Hi friends!
It’s been a while!

I’ve been quiet for a gazillion reasons but mostly bc in between clients & life itself I’ve busy building up my Kamer Nursing business & integrating it into my overarching brand (more on that to come soon!)

BUT…I’ve had quite a few people ask if I’m taking on new clients or ask me if I’m still doing acupuncture so I figured a public declaration was in order 😆

It’s been a wild few years!

And YES I always welcome new & active or formerly active clients.

As for my practice…although my areas of focus tend to be toward mental health, chronic illness including chronic & *acute* pain I also love all things women’s health, fertility & pregnancy

AND anything really!

Because at the end of the day, it’s all connected & as someone fascinated by all facets of being, accompanied by quite an eclectic set of knowledge & skills who truly & honestly loves what I do my sole goal is…

to be a support…

whether it’s physically, mentally, emotionally, energetically…

I’m here to be in a service tending to the upliftment of others

Whether in need of a release physically, mentally, emotionally, energetically…

I’m here!

If things feel stagnant or stuck, or even if you feel great & want to keep it flowing…

I’m here!!

As a resource, as an advocate, as a support, I would love to be there by your side on this journey of life.

Sooo if you are looking for a little acu love or some cupping, or both check out the link in my bio for booking details or go to bewithlove.ca

And stay tuned for the launch of my health identity portfolio soon!

Throughout the years of witnessing and personally living through the chronic wellness gap in healthcare I’ve been dreaming of support concepts but somehow it always felt too fanciful. It wasn’t until I got the experience of what this could actually look like recently that all the pieces started to come together.

I’m excited to share my vision is finally coming to life…

Introducing Kamer Nursing Services!

Here’s a synopsis…

Navigating within the healthcare landscape can sometimes feel like it’s a full-time job. But health management isn’t supposed to be an added burden. Support, in its fullest potential, means not having to be the sole project manager of your own wellbeing. It means having a collaborative partner but also an experienced guide to help you traverse across the broad spectrum of wellness. Providing a ranage of care services founded on the pillars of education, advocacy and support, Kamer Nursing’s solution- oriented structure excercises practices such as knowledge and skill building and helping to translate the rising and falling influxes into tangible actions.

From organizing medical records, decifering labs, coordinating care between multiple practitioners, and strategizing for your next specialist visit, to simply validating your lived experience when the system fails to listen, Kamer Nursing bridges the gap between clinical reality and your personal comfort. Ready to withstand the storn along side you, Kamer Nursing offers a safe space to process, plan, and pivot when necessary. By removing the logistical barriers and offering fierce, compassionate backing, there are be space for you to give yourself the allowance to breathe, regroup, and regain your footing. And providing the structural and emotional scaffolding from which to step out of the overwhelm and focus on what truly matters; getting to truly know how you tick, learning all about your different baselines and letting these understandings be the foundation that guides your path of health and wellness.

You are in charge. Its your health. Your choices. Kamer Nursing is simply a support along the way!

Endometriosis is grossly underestimated for the havoc it creates.

I am hopeful that the fluid retention captured in this video during my last cycle pre-surgery will be a thing of my past but reality is that research shows that endometriosis is a systemic disease separate from the uterus with its own disease mechanisms.

I’m still digesting that fact of having the validation because this will make a HUGE difference in my life moving forward because I can start to separate myself from the labels unfairly placed upon me from lack of understanding. Not to mention there’s so much amazing research happening right showing links between chronic illnesses so I’m hopeful for better support.

Right now my mind is spinning too much with too many things to say but instead I will just simply share…

If you are struggling with unknown chronic issues…if you know someone who is struggling…

Trust yourself…trust your experiences…find someone who can support you.

There are some incredible doctors out there right now doing amazing work with chronic illnesses, especially @dra_says

Maybe someday we won’t have to fight as hard for be seen 🫶

One of the greatest obstacles in my therapeutic work is overcoming self-imposed pressures. A common tendency.

And bc my self-concept includes fables of a capacity to endlessly preform at the highest level of learnt patterns of ignoring signals, busting through barriers, consistently & constantly overworking…it’s liable to failure.

Bc concept & reality are not the same thing! With all that load, systems start to falter. Things get harder to control. And eventually there is a loss of access to the revered ‘super power’ like attributes associated with high functioning. Making it harder to fake ‘being okay’ but ‘being real’ is complicated.

And for me being in a ‘helping’ industry just compofunds that! Bc tacit knowledge of the deep inner workings of the struggles of chronic illness is a major asset when combined with research & skills in this field. BUT it can also be incredibly overwhelming with an expanse of options, matched by countless ideas, yet restricted by too little time made even more convoluted from learning how to better navigate an overtaxed system. Which I am still not great at! Sooo, I’ve annoyingly been frustrated with my lack of ability to do more. EVEN THOUGH I know logically how silly this is.

Which is one of the reasons I appreciate the mysterious interconnected nature of everything. Bc honestly in spite of finding grace for myself I get so much value from sources of external validation.

And I especially love the unexpected ways it comes in…

Like the seemingly irrelevant messages here or there that might be missed standing alone but in combination the subtle themes woven within have this amazing ability to captivate me with grander revelations.

Bc going into this new year, with the weight of all the pressure, I felt lost. The discombobulating effects of navigating the wild twists & turns of life kind of rendered me disjointed.

And in all this the lines began to blur around permission & approval. But through these prompts I could see that these 2 things are just extensions of desire for love & acceptance. Yet too often these values are weaponized & measured based on asset & performance. Which is also ridiculous. We deserve more! by @bewithlove.ca

This entire year feels like it’s moved at an unreasonably fast pace.

I get it’s a matter of perception but I also think it’s impossible for the digital environment not to affect our minds.

The overconsumption it places on our time & resources is inconceivable.

So although I love technology, staying connected is a struggle bc a huge part of me craves something more concrete.

Sharing & keeping engaged on social media just feels harder. Not sure if it’s algorithms & my vulnerability, or the icky nature of late stage capitalism, or nostalgia for simpler times or a bit of it all, but my list of ‘unposted’ is too many to count.

Bc with the endless inspiration my life provides & the dramas ensuing there’s enough content to argue that if Murphy’s Law were real I’m the prime example of why designing for error is crucial.

Which coming full circle, I’m wondering long term effects of this affliction. Bc there’s a noticeable shift of being stuck in loops of “where did the day go & why is there so much to do?” And for whatever reason I keep getting thrown off course.

↑ chronic illness doesn’t help, constant appts & feeling unwell is unbelievably consumptive but more so as of late my usual strokes of chaos don’t flow quite as well as they used to.

And it’s not to complain. My magnetism for calamitous adventures is a part of me I appreciate just as any physical characteristic. Like some pact I made to fully experience all life has to offer.

YET recently it feels more taxing AND my once solid composure is waning during intensities. Making it harder to get back on my feet.

Like with my hysterectomy. I had planned to share it all.

But even now 3 weeks post-op the words won’t come with the ease I’d hoped for bc of the disarray I was in.

Just like this year. So many unfulfilled plans blasted by 1 thing or another.

So it makes sense to end this year with a bang. Closing one chapter & opening a new but just adding in a spark of drama in the most brutal fashion passing 2 kidney stones freshly out of surgery.

Maybe someday the horror of it will soften & words will come but for now, chaos aside my recovery is going well I’m slowly getting back to myself. by @bewithlove.ca

I’m having surgery in 2 weeks. But a part of me is having trouble computing this fact.

Not for lack of knowledge or fear bc this surprise hysterectomy is welcome news. The elation & relief I’ve felt since its proposal is something I still have no words for. Yet, I’ve been facing these health challenges so long it feels too surreal to be true.

With chronic conditions, in a process of adapting to withstand an unreasonable amount of pain & discomfort a sort preconditioning can happen. It’s different for everyone I’m sure but in my case, out of necessity, accepting my reality & adopting strategies to cope is my means of survival. Bc it’s impossible to function or self-advocate without relying on tactics like dissociation or lowered expectations.

This type of conditioning is not complacency nor does it negate effects. It’s like the annoying undownloaded malware software. Always running in the background, with constant pop up reminders; wildly irritating, regularly inconvenient, but its relentless nature leads to accommodation practices, addressing issues as they arise.

However, survival tactics tend to overcomplicate an already fragile situation. Bc better masking = greater system strain = higher likelihood of further disease development, or co-morbidities.

And unfortunately for me options were sparse, BUT I do truly hope growing awareness & ↑ research leads to measured shifts bc women’s healthcare needs more calculated consideration.

It’s still on avg. 7-10 yrs for an endometriosis diagnosis (NIH, 2024). Shameful for a condition affecting at least 10% of 1/2 the pop. (WHO).

Double that for me! 20+ yrs of suffering. 20+ yrs shuffled through specialists with meager direction or support.

Even when diagnosed with adenomyosis in 2017 (the indication for my hysterectomy), I was quickly disregarded solely bc I didn’t want oral contraceptives & was misinformed on my IUD candidacy.

Instead for another 8 years I struggled with worsening symptoms. Debilitating nausea, ridiculous cramps, lightning crotch, anal spasms, outrageously painful BMs, stabbing rib pains, gastropoesis, back & shoulder pain, paresthesia, nose bleeds, etc.

Yesterday was the perfect reminder of why I fell in love with this work.

Simply put there is just something so powerful about coming together for a shared experience as a means to acknowledge the humanity in each & every one of us (including ourselves bc let’s be honest we are often our harshest critic).

Because when we can take the time to consciously acknowledge the humanness in ourselves & each other and we let go of it needing to look a certain way and the pressure that holds us back can start to dissipate.

There are no magic tricks & no easy fixes but coming together and being present with each other through this bumpy ride of life makes it a whole lot better.

It just happens that the breath is personally one of my favourite tools bc it has the ability to connect in so many ways.

But @roubaboushnak @livelovelifeyoga @wholesoulmehealing demonstrate so intuitively how music might be your connection point or, self massage, or nutrition, etc. etc.

Working with these ladies was such a treat. I didn’t realize how much I had truly missed all of this & I cannot wait until the next one!!

I’ve known Jackie, Rouba & Kelsey for many years now but this being the first time I’ve had the privilege to collaborate with any of them.

So in playful honouring of our joining together “an unbreakable circle” was created as the title for our means to communicate.

At the time I didn’t really think too much about the significance…

I believe it’s the bonds of community, the unbreakable circle, that make us stronger as a people. We thrive more by having each other.

We are allowed disagreements, we are allowed to hold big emotions like anger and frustrations bc humans are messy & must never be expected to be perfect. And so a a relationship built on a foundation of mutual respect & support honour the messy & see to the beauty inside it all looking for the common ground we all share as a means to move forward together.

*this excludes cases of conscious harm & disrespect, which is a whole other subject.

From my perspective relationships take effort & consideration bc to me that’s what being in relationship is; it’s a 2 way street. It’s an active, not a passive role.

But life is such an over demanding relentless confusing cesspool right now that I feel like it’s hard to even know what is up or down & everyone is exhausted. Not to mention how muddled everything feels.

Being bombarded with so much all the time there is barely any time to take care of self that the concept of community care can feel even more nonessential. Because who has time for that?

But this is where I think we’ve lost our way a little. Because this is what I think we need more than ever.

Turning away from our digital worlds & turning more to our communities for support.

Finding those unbreakable bonds in each other.

Finding our resiliency in each other.

We need each other.

Join us in community this sat November 8th 9am-1pm

And get a button to remember your unbreakable bonds with each other!!
