If you only had 24 hours in Santa Maria… this is exactly where I’d take you… 🌳

📍 Pico Alto – the highest point on the island, where on a clear day you can admire almost the whole of Santa Maria from above.

📍 Barreiro da Faneca – the famous Red Desert, one of the most unique landscapes in the Azores and unlike anything I expected to find on a volcanic island.

📍 Baía da Raposa – a hidden viewpoint at the end of a beautiful forest trail, proving that sometimes the best views really are the ones you have to earn.

Santa Maria isn’t the kind of place that shouts for your attention…
