Would you let a robot do your lashes? 🤖

It’s not hypothetical anymore. An AI-guided lash robot is now taking appointments at the Newport Beach Nordstrom. It places extensions one at a time, and licensed pros still handle the consult, the prep and the finish.

This has been a big topic lately. Some people love the idea: it’s faster, cheaper, and nobody’s making small talk. Others say the best part of a lash appointment is the person doing it. One survey found 88% of people call their salon visits therapeutic.

🍂 Why do skin care pros call fall and winter “peel season”?

☀️ Mostly, it comes down to the sun. Alpha hydroxy acids, like glycolic and lactic, can make skin more sensitive to it: the FDA advises sun protection while you use them and for a week after. In the cooler months the sun is weaker and the days are shorter, so that’s when many people choose to get a peel.

🔬 What a superficial peel does: it loosens the bond between the dead cells on the skin’s surface, so they shed faster. People get one for brighter-looking, smoother-feeling skin.

🧴 Two things to remember in any season: don’t pick, and wear SPF every day.

📍 In California, an esthetician’s license covers superficial peels. A peel that goes past the epidermis is a medical procedure.

Officially, yes.

Fall and winter are peel season for a reason: acid peels leave skin more sun-sensitive for a while afterward, and shorter, lower-UV days make the recovery easier. This is still Southern California, though, so SPF stays on every single day.
