Days at the Morisaki Bookshop 📚🤎

This felt like sitting in a quiet little bookshop and taking a break from everything for a while.

It's a simple, slow-paced story about heartbreak, family, and finding your way back to yourself. I liked how books and the people around us can become a part of our healing, even when we don't realise it.

It's not a book I'd pick up for a gripping plot, but if you enjoy quiet stories that feel like a little pause from the world, you might find something to love here.

Have you read this one? I'd love to know what you thought of it. 📖 by @beyondthecover33

Some secrets don’t stay buried forever.
The Kite Runner is a story about friendship, betrayal, guilt, and the kind of regret that follows you long after childhood is over. Set against Afghanistan’s turbulent history, it asks a difficult question: can you ever truly make up for the person you once were?
One of those books that leaves you thinking about it long after the last page. 🕊️

A book about Partition that I wish more people talked about.

Khushwant Singh’s Train to Pakistan is an Indian classic set during the Partition of India, but what makes it unforgettable isn’t just the history. It’s the way it brings an entire village, its people, relationships, love and hatred into the middle of one of the darkest moments in Indian history.

It’s short, direct, and deeply unsettling — the kind of historical fiction that stays with you long after you’ve finished reading.

If you’re looking for Indian literature, Partition stories, or Indian classics that actually make you think, put Train to Pakistan on your list.

Have you read Khushwant Singh yet?

I went into The Connection Between Us expecting a sweet romance, and overall, I did enjoy it. For the first half especially, I was genuinely invested in the story. What kept me hooked was the mystery surrounding the “Wi-Fi boy.” Since she didn’t know who he actually was, I was just as curious to find out, and I kept wondering where the story was going to take this🥹

I was expecting the reveal to be something I could really dive into, so when it turned out to be a random boy from her school, I was a little underwhelmed. It wasn’t necessarily bad, but after all that curiosity, I expected the reveal to have a little more impact🥲

I did like the characters, and I think the writing worked well for the kind of story this is. The writing style is simple, easy to follow, yet effective, and I particularly enjoyed the way the story was narrated in the first half. The plot and storytelling kept me interested initially, but somewhere after the midway point, everything started feeling a little too simple and predictable for me.

The ending was decent, but emotionally, it didn’t leave a very deep impact on me. I finished the book enjoying the experience, but I wouldn’t say it changed something in me or stayed with me for long after I closed it.

Overall, I’d give it around 3.5–4/5. I’d definitely recommend it to readers who enjoy light, contemporary romance and simple, easy-to-read love stories❤️ Just don’t go into it expecting a book that will completely change your perspective on love or leave you emotionally wrecked. by @beyondthecover33

This time, we're stepping away from the usual recommendations and talking about some Indian books that do things a little differently.
Books that surprised me, challenged me, or simply made me think, “Why don't I see more people talking about this?”
And honestly, I want to discover more.
Tell me one Indian book you think deserves to go beyond the hype — or deserves more hype in the first place. 👀
I might just feature your recommendation in Part 3. 🤎
