Hey everyone! We realized we haven't done an introduction post in a while and have new friends following so wanted to reintroduce ourselves. We're Sam and Laura, we revived and run Boarders For Christ Ministry here in the Seattle surrounding area and have a huge heart to love on the skate, snow and surf communities.

BFC was a ministry from '97-2015 when it dissolved. Scott had asked Laura if she would want to keep it going back in 2015 but as a new mom she wasn't able to commit to run it all in that season. In March of 2024 we felt God calling us to skate ministry and reached out to the founders Chris Lauri and Scott Yamamura to ask if it was okay to revive the ministry. Laura was one of the admin in 2013 for the social media and amazingly it was all still up and available for use. That was awesome being able to start it back up and have many guys who used to be apart of it see it was going to start up again and come out.

Now almost 10 years later we see God's hand moving again in the skate community and have felt His guidance by giving Him our yes. Our ministry goals are showing the love of Christ by loving each skater where their at, and being a safe space to gather for kids, teens, adults and skate families to come for discipleship- mentorship and growth.

We have 4 kids of our own, 2 so far that skate and another 2 showing interest so having a ministry we can do as a family is part of a legacy we wanted to create. We've seen the ministry become like an extended family and that has encouraged us to see so many other skaters also craving a family like environment.

If you are in the skate community and you want to learn more about Jesus, have a space to hang out, eat food, ask questions and grow spiritually come out to skate church. We are currently meeting twice a month and would love to have you. DM for locations!

Yesterday at the Woodinville Competition we got to meet two new friends who had a desire to get baptized. We thought why wait when we are the church too and it's such a beautiful day. Kyle was able to chat for a while about baptism to make sure it was fully understood and all questions were answered, then we got the BFC crew together and headed down to Lake Washington and baptized @_bxbyrell and @tienchisb ! We're so blessed to be apart of this. Thankful we got to meet you both and now be on this journey with you guys! by @bfcseattle

If you like what we're doing and would like to donate toward our ministry, our Venmo and CashApp are now live. All proceeds go to fund our BFC Seattle™ non-profit so we can keep spreading the gospel, doing events, and building towards starting new programs.

Yesterday we had our good friend and local Pastor @cody.whittington share while Sam was away at a mens conference. He spoke on Matthew 5, being the light and salt of the earth and how important that word can be to us as believers in the midst of skate culture.

When we have Jesus in our hearts and model what Christ's love looks like others are drawn towards His light in us. That's what Matthew 5 is talking about in being a light for the Lord.

He also spoke about how salt doesn't just add taste, it's permanent and preserves. "Salt was used on the alter in the old testament as a reminder that God permanently loves you and that He is preserving you."

If you ever have theological questions, need prayer or want to learn more about asking Jesus into your heart and life we're always avaliable to talk and we would love to talk with you about what it looks like walking in relationship with God.

Yesterday was a fun first park sesh at Lake City for kicking off the summer! We got to see some of the guys we haven't for a while and meet some new ones. Ready to dial it in for summer and looking forward to the next meet up!

Sam shared from Exodus 14:13-14 "And Moses said to the people, 'Fear not, stand firm, and see the salvation of the Lord, which he will work for you today. For the Egyptians whom you see today, you shall never see again. The Lord will fight for you; you need only to be still.'"

Meaning that the Lord will always come through for us, and often times we don't need to do anything other than be still.
