And that’s a wrap on film school. The Official Stats: Graduated summa cum laude (4.24 GPA) with a Bachelor of Arts in Film and Media Production from the Sidney Poitier New American Film School. The Actual Stats: Eight semesters learning and growing personally and professionally including… - one on campus where a best friend was found over a misplaced fridge - two online battling the limitations of the pandemic through movie nights with the MGE crew and developing my first feature film script - three at the Sun Studios stomping grounds, trading in the pen and paper for some hands-on experience, and discovering another side of filmmaking with the capstone cohort as well as a new understanding of the art of directing in the process - one at the MIX Center, breaking in the equipment with long nights of editing, coloring, and mixing to make sure everything was ready for an unforgettable showcase - and one final epilogue taking on the City of Angels, attending every screening, event, and tour we could get our hands on Film sets in the double digits, fully realizing my personal filmmaking style and honing my craft not just as a director but also as a first assistant director and a grip, gaining a deeper, multi-faceted insight into the filmmaking process from the backstage of a guitarist’s talent show to the California dunes of the 23rd century. But, most importantly, the countless peers, collaborators, and lifelong friends (Connor, Danté, Joe, Mathonwyn, Aaron, Julio, Jayla, Milla, and so, so many others) I’ve met over this four-year journey. I have learned so much from each and every one of you and none of this would mean anything without the laughs, stories, and memories we’ve made along the way. I’m so proud of all of you and can’t wait to see where the future takes us. I think I’m still trying to wrap my head around the fact that this era is really over. But looking back, I wouldn’t change a thing. So thanks everyone for making it truly special ❤️ See you all in LA. by @bflogeras

Well, we did it. @inthelimelightfilm had the honor of premiering alongside a lineup of truly wonderful films this past Saturday, and it was a night I’ll never forget. Endlessly proud of my closest collaborators and talented friends @jayla.k.johnson, @aaronchow_, and @julio_juarez98 for their awards in exceptional technical achievement in producing, cinematography, and editing. These past three semesters will always hold a special place in my heart, and it’s surreal to think that we’ve made it to the end. But there is no other cohort of filmmakers I’d rather have had long meetings, demanding shoots, and sleepless nights with. So excited to see what the future has in store for all of us ❤️ taken in ASU MIX Center by @bflogeras

Ahead of Day 2 of Senior Showcase, I want to highlight two films I had the absolute honor of 1st ADing for last semester. For the 10% of time that I wasn’t running around set or having my head buried deep into my schedule or watch, I just got to take it all in and notice the sheer talent and passion of everyone involved. And, honestly, there’s nothing better than that.
