What an absolute pleasure and honour to have our live hardware @modu.lations showcase @blossom_festival this year. To think that this would have been possible 2 years ago is unbelievable.

Thank you to everyone for making this possible including all the artists, Tim and crew from blossom, Bobby @tractionsoundsystem_perth for looking after us and @lukasbirkhoff for the photos.

Modulations showcase @blossom_festival this year!

Expect 6 hours of ALL live electronic music and techno from the afternoon into the evening. No one will be DJing during our showcase. We will begin the journey with electronica moving to house then techno to finish.

@measuresofdistanceband are a two piece electronic outfit from Fremantle. Playing with a selection of large analog and modular synthesizers they blend atmospheric and melody with upbeat rhythms.

Glen Holder Long time Modulations regular vinyl DJ and live artists. Glen has been DJing for over 25 years in London Sydney and Perth. He has played at London raves in Brixton Academy, Pacha, Hammersmith Apollo and Scala. Having recently turned his hand to production he is now a regular live act.

@coaltronic is a Perth based electronic artist bringing house and techno to the stage through genuine live electronic performance. Built on the belief that electronic music should be performed, not simply played back, COAL delivers a hardware driven show using analog synthesizers, midi controllers and groove boxes. Live. Analog. Immersive.

@bfsm_bradfsoundmachine Brad F (aka Theremantrum aka Mindseye Robot) brings live hardware performance with his sampler and synth based portable live sound machine rig. Brads signature sound is rooted in exploring the happy place at the venn diagram where techno, acid, breakbeat, electro all come together.

@brgn_live BRGN is Modulations founder and hosting the showcase. With releases on @midnightelevator and @fifth.element_records he improvises live with a eurorack based set up playing hypnotic techno.

Brad F (aka Theremantrum aka Mindseye Robot), representing the Freo Modulations crew, brings live hardware performance with his sampler and synth based portable live sound machine rig.

Brads signature sound is rooted in exploring the happy place at the point in the venn diagram where techno, acid, breakbeat, electro come together.

From a place of love of all things loud, synthesizer, sampler drum machine and just sound that moves in interesting ways, you can expect squelchy 303 goodness, crusty rolling breakbeats, groovy techno and tasty textures.

Brads live sets are a presentation of his studio experimentation and sound design explorations, with samples and snippets pulled anywhere from short jams to finished tracks and blended within the samplers and an improvised flow

Meet the artist. Brad F @bfsm_bradfsoundmachine

Brad F (previous releases as Theremantrum and Mindseye Robot), a staple around the Modulations crew for a while now. Returns happily after some time hiding in the lab with a new batch of sounds tracks loaded up in his sample and midi based portable live sound machine rig.

Brads signature sound extends from embracing the happy place that is the point in the venn diagram where techno, acid, breakbeat, electro come together. Stemming from a background in jungle dnb breaks vinyl djing and drawing inspiration from the sounds,techniques and energy of so many legends from the likes of The prodigy, DMX krew, Underworld, Ceephax Acid crew just to name a handfull.

Coming from a place of undeniable love of all things rave, synthesizer, sampler drum machine and just moving sound in general, you can expect psychedelic 303s, classic synth sound designs, tasty arps, crusty rolling breakbeats, hard hitting 4 to the floors with a smackering of phat analog purity and a healthy dusting of modern digital sample and synthesis techniques.

Brads sets are the result of a dedicated process of studio experimentation with whatever combo of gear may be calling at the time, sometimes resulting in a finished track or sometimes, sometimes in the box, sometimes purely out, other times just a deepdive into some unorthodox signal chain routery madness. Whatever the method, the results are painstakingly disassembled, chopped and curated within his elektron digitakt / octatrack (and usually an extra friend or two) core live setup rig for remixing and improvisation performance to bring a set that retains a live hardware jam essence while tipping the hat to a flow that evolves, moves and surprises as one would expect from a dj style mix.

Preview of my setup for upcoming live set at @modu.lations @freobuffclubofficial sat 21st March.
Digitakt is the guts of it all. Octa does sone mixing, fx and long samples. Digitone does sone extra synth work and sends midi to my acid box (Avalon and behri K1). Echolator for fun. Hoping to integrate the visual synth rig this set or next.. This one is gonna be fun. by @bfsm_bradfsoundmachine
