Ideas Of Perfection

There will always be room in our story to grow, so this limited, static, vision of perfection, shouldn’t be able to apply, ever. There is a huge difference between acknowledging the power of your experiences, and being entitled to how an outcome manifests. Being engaged with your processes instead of the results, is the only way to evade the trapping constraints of you and the worlds perfectionist tendencies.

Definition of Building

Building something of substance has special energy, and for many reasons. The more ‘obvious’ reason being, the amount of impact that it could have on your community, but also the impact it could have on the world itself.

Doing What It Takes

The more life goes on, you start to realize how much the cliche phrases you heard growing up, make sense. Life’s lessons often get repetitive, but you learn to overcome these lessons by honoring the bigger picture.

One ‘cliche’ phrase that hits in particular, is “Doing What It Takes”. Being who you want to be, requires the action of doing what it takes. Not just once, but over and over again. An article from Peer Executive Boards quoting the famous author Ray Bradbury states, “Living at risk is jumping off a cliff and building your wings on the way down” (Peer Executive Boards 2019). Avoiding the work towards your desired self is definitely an option, but the decisions that lead to growth are usually uncomfortable. I too find it exhausting to constantly address situations you thought you solved, but the desired outcome is continuous.

I always tell myself that I must go through the work, not around it. Think about everything thats necessary to overcome that challenge in your mind, then trust your commitment to yourself, and do what it f*cking takes.

Flipping The Switch

Many people assume high achievers/performers have an inate ability of creativity, that they were either born with, or obtained through access to specific resources. Access to resources is a valid conversation as it pertains to performance leverage but every individual has the capability to go for what they want.

The confidence to shift an idea to reality is a the cornerstone of creativity. You just have to flip the switch. Every day is an opportunity to be the best version of yourself, you just have to BELIEVE that its true. While I understand it is easier said than done, I also acknowledge how that same sentiment can stifle us from engaging in the process towards our desired self. Once loosen your grip on ‘certainty’, you’ll allow yourself to participate in the habits that pull you away from your old self, but most importantly, the habits that push you toward your desired outcome.

Dr. Bhrett McCabe states, “I accept the things I’ve done in the past. I know the future is uncertain, but the only thing that matters is now. If I’ve won every match before this one, this match doesn’t know the difference. I must meet the demands of this match right here, right now, with all of my resources aligned to reach that goal” (Bhrett McCabe 2021).

Allowing yourself to be creative and express the best version of yourself, will ultimately make your world a lot better to inhabit.

Lights On

“Change is an inevitable part of the human experience. We are constantly moving through and navigating change in our work and personal lives. A significant part of a healthy growth mindset is to be able to embrace change and see it as an opportunity for improvement, and not a threat of loss” (Galen Emanuele 2020).
