Date night with my honey! Dinner at @culturedyt to check out our friend Chef Dane’s amazing restaurant. Everything was delicious 🤤 (smoked wings and wanton nachos…omg)
Now we’re getting ready to watch The Notebook: the musical. So excited to see this. The music is incredible.

48 hours of healing for Winnie ❤️‍🩹
Lots of sleep and cuddles, brunch with the Aunties (Jenny & Rachel), increased appetite, a couple of super short potty walks, and much more energy. I’m so glad she’s turned a corner and seems to be on the upswing, but keeping her from jumping and being her normal excited puppy-self is proving to be a full time gig. 😂 Two days down, 8 to go.

Our little Winnie girl had her spay and puppy teeth removal surgery today. ❤️‍🩹 I may or may not have cried when we dropped her off this morning. 😭
Thankfully, she’s home now, a little sleepy and sporting the cone of shame, but doing well and getting ALL the snuggles. Lexi is very glad to have her younger sister back home and has been keeping a close eye on her.

Recap of last week…

Ashlei and I took a road trip down to Myrtle Beach to spend time with my Mom and bring her back for the family reunion! Little Miss Lexi got to road trip with us and see the beach for the first time. Winnie stayed back and got to go to work with Daniel. ❤️

Then yesterday we got together with my grandpa Rudy’s side of the family for a long overdue family reunion. It was so nice to see everyone, and Mark and Lori are always so gracious to host all of us on their beautiful farm. I didn’t take a ton of pictures, so I stole a few from the family fb page 😉 by @bgillen

Five years ago today, I lost my Grandma Linda. She wasn’t just my grandma. She was my best friend, and genuinely one of the coolest women I’ve ever known. ❤️

Five years sounds like such a long time, but somehow I still miss her just as much. I still wish I could pick up the phone and tell her something. I still think about what she would say, the sound of her voice, what would make her laugh, and how much I wish she could see my life now.

Grandma was truly one of a kind. She was feisty and loud, wore the brightest orange lipstick and nail polish, loved all dogs (but especially her own three pups), and marched to the beat of her own drum. She wasn’t interested in being anyone other than exactly who she was, and I absolutely loved that about her. She made life more colorful just by being in it. 🧡

So much of my life changed after she left. She never got to see some of the hardest decisions I had to make, or the life I built on the other side of them. I wish more than anything she could see me now: happy, loved, surrounded by my little family, and finally living a life that feels like mine.

And she would have been absolutely OBSESSED with Winnie and Lexi. I can picture it so clearly. They would have had their Great Grandma wrapped around their tiny paws in less than five minutes. 🐾💕

I hope somehow she knows. I hope she can see how far I’ve come. And more than anything, I hope she’s proud of me.

Five years without you, Grandma. I’d give anything for one more conversation, one more laugh, one more hug, and one more imprint of that bright orange lipstick on my cheek. 💋
