Thank you to Ben Shoesmith, Senior Economist at KPMG, for joining us at NC State and providing such an insightful look at the current economic environment.

We really appreciated hearing Ben’s perspective on the job and housing markets, the impact of AI on the future workforce, and the continued growth of data center investment and the labor needs that come with it. His discussion of Federal Reserve interest rates and the oil and energy industry also provided valuable context for understanding some of the larger economic forces shaping businesses and industries today.

It was especially valuable to hear how these trends connect to the opportunities and challenges students will encounter as we prepare to enter the workforce. Events like this provide a great opportunity to learn directly from professionals who are closely following and analyzing these developments.

Thank you again to Ben for sharing his expertise and taking the time to speak with the NC State community. We also appreciate the KPMG team and recruiters who joined us and helped make the event a great opportunity to learn, ask questions, and connect.

Meet Vanessa! She is a senior in the IBDD program, majoring in Business Administration with a concentration in Finance. She spent the past semester in Denver, completing a six-month internship! She shares, “I’m excited to help grow BGS into a community that students recognize long before they become eligible to join. I want people to see BGS as more than just an honor society, but as a network of ambitious, driven people who genuinely support one another. This year, I hope to strengthen engagement, build a stronger campus presence that reflects the excellence of our members, and spread the word to help make BGS something students are genuinely excited to be part of :)” Ask her about music and travel because those are some of her passions! If you want to find her on campus, look at the Carmichael Gym💃! by @bgsncsu
