BGSU students apply classroom learning to their community. 🌳

Students in Integrated Business Experience (BA 4500) and Marketing Management (MKT 4600) aren't just studying business; they're doing it. This semester, they're partnering with BG Parks & Recreation on business consulting projects, culminating in end-of-semester presentations that put their skills to the test.

Through work-integrated learning, students tackle genuine challenges for local organizations, building experience that goes far beyond the classroom. This is what it looks like when BGSU serves as a public university for the public good. Students grow, and our community benefits. We were honored to welcome Bill Shelt ’81, ’83, back to the Allen W. and Carol M. Schmidthorst College of Business.

During his visit, Bill connected with our college community and saw firsthand the impact of the William J. and Mary A. Shelt Scholarship, which supports incoming first-year business students as they begin their academic journey.

Thank you, Bill, for your continued commitment to student success and for investing in the next generation of business leaders. A group of economics students recently traveled to Chicago to see how their classroom learning connects to the finance industry.
During visits to Goldman Sachs, the Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago and Nuveen, students learned about municipal bonds, portfolio management and career opportunities from professionals working in the field. The experience gave students a firsthand look at where their economics education can take them.
