A unique and rare tree plantation initiative for World Environment Day: The *Kavathi Chafa* (Scientific name: *Magnolia liliifera* or *Magnolia grandiflora*) is a tree known for its highly fragrant and attractive flowers. It is celebrated for its captivating scent and large white or yellow blossoms. Key features of the *Kavathi Chafa*: Flowers: The flowers are large and intensely fragrant. Before blooming, the bud resembles an egg or a wood apple (*kavat*); the name '*Kavathi Chafa*' likely stems from this resemblance to the wood apple fruit. The white variety typically blooms in the evening, and its petals fall off by morning. Tree: It is an evergreen, medium-sized tree. Its leaves are large, dark green, tough, and glossy, with a velvety or reddish fuzz on the underside. Uses: The fragrant oil extracted from the flowers is widely used to manufacture *attar* and perfumes. Due to its enchanting fragrance and beautiful appearance, it is a popular choice for planting in home gardens and temple premises. Cultivation and Care: Soil and Climate: It thrives in well-drained soil and requires abundant sunlight. Growth: It can be propagated from seeds or through air-layering (branch cuttings). Once established, the tree requires minimal maintenance. Therefore, on the occasion of World Environment Day, let us plant at least one such tree in our country and around our homes—plant trees and nurture them. by @bhagyesh6194
