This Red-Tailed Boa was so beautiful!

Do you like snakes? I know a lot of people do not prefer them.

I love how Cotton-top tamarins move around, it’s like they’re always in 2x speed! 😂 They’re so adorable and honestly nothing like any other monkey I’ve seen.

Which photo is your favorite?

Happy World Orangutan Day 🦧🧡 Oliver wanted to show off his portfolio— pretty fly for a 46 y/o… vogue what is your answer? 👀💅

We care for our 3 incredible Sumatran Orangutans in which their species is Critically Endangered. Did you know? 🔸 Sumatran orangutans are the largest arboreal primate. They are sexually dimorphic: which means males and females look different, with males typically about twice the size of females.

Lizard 🦎 Lizard 🦎 Lizard 🦎

Happy World Lizard Day 💚 featuring some of our Lizards (SubOrder Sauria) from Reptile and Ambassadors:
•Giant Day Gecko ⭐️
•Prehensile Tailed Skink 💛
•Yellow Spotted Monitor 🌟

Did you know geckos have unique adhesive toe pads called setae? This allows them to “stick” to tricky surfaces! 🤯

(Bonus “mom I frew up” at the end) 🫪😆

Happy World Snake Day 🐍💙

Did you know? Female eastern diamondback rattlesnakes are ovoviviparous, which means they carry their eggs inside their body and maintain the eggs’ temperature until they hatch. 🤯

Happy World Pigeon Day pt.2 💙🤍

First Species Highlighted: Nicobar Pigeon, a Near Threatened species native to Indonesian Island and surrounding island regions. 🏝️ Did you know? They are the only living member of the ‘genus Caloenas’ , alongside the extinct spotted green pigeon and Kanaka pigeon, and is the closest living relative of the extinct dodo! 🦤

Second Species Highlighted: Pied Imperial Pigeon, native to Southeast Asia and surrounding island regions. Did you know? Because they travel relatively long distances, their flight muscles are larger and stronger than many other birds of a similar size. 💪🪶

Happy World Pigeon Day pt.1 💙❤️

First Species Highlight: Victoria Crowned-Pigeon, a Near Threatened Species native to the New Guinea regions. Did you know? 👀 They measure as the largest extant (still existing) species of pigeon. 🫪😮

Second Species Highlight; Green-naped Pheasant Pigeon, also native to the New Guinea regions. Did you know? They are classified in the Pigeon Family, but behaviors shown to like-and occupy-the niche of pheasants in the habitat, hence their name! 💚🧐

Happy National Alligator Day! 💚

At the zoo we care for 3 American Alligators 🐊

Did you know? Rather than determining sex with X and Y chromosomes like humans, alligators instead rely on incubation temperature. The trait called “temperature-dependent sex determination”. ☀️ With estimated data stating that: 33C degrees will usually produce 100% males. 💙 While contrarily, 30 degrees Celsius (just 3 degrees different) gives 100% females. ❤️
