Summer Refuge of a Rising Tiger

After repeatedly venturing into new areas, testing boundaries, and searching for a territory of his own, Panihayi’s subadult male finally settled beneath the shade of the forest trees in the Panpatha Buffer. Every step of his journey reflects the challenges faced by a growing tiger—exploring unfamiliar grounds, avoiding dominant males, and learning the art of survival.
Resting peacefully today, but carrying the spirit of a future ruler, this magnificent youngster reminds us that every dominant tiger once began as an ambitious wanderer.

In the scorching summer heat of Panpatha Buffer, the young subadult male Panihayi is often seen resting under the shade of trees near a shrinking water body.

As he matures, his regular movements and explorations are clear signs of a young tiger preparing to establish a territory of his own.

These are crucial years in a tiger’s life—filled with challenges, learning, and the search for space in a landscape already ruled by dominant males. Between patrols and cautious advances, the cool shade and nearby water offer a brief respite from the relentless summer sun.

A glimpse into the journey of a future king, balancing ambition with survival in the wild.

As we took boat and started our journey looking for tigresses, first we saw 151 first cub on river banks behind the grass. As we moved further, P151 second cub was right there drinking water and looking with fierce eyes to the boaters. Spend good amount of time here till others realized sighting of tigers here and queuing up for boating taken in Panna Tiger Reserve by @bhavinc_com

Marking the Path of Legacy

In the golden light of an early morning safari in the Moharli Core zone, we were treated to an exclusive and unforgettable sighting of one of Collarwali’s cubs. Emerging silently from the forest track, she carried the confidence and instinct of its legendary lineage. Though still youthful, the cub already displayed the behavior of a future ruler — alert, observant, and deeply connected to the rhythms of the jungle.

As the morning mist slowly lifted, the cub paused along the trail to scent-mark the territory, offering a rare glimpse into the early lessons of survival and dominance in the wild. Every movement reflected inherited instinct — learning boundaries, understanding presence, and preparing for the challenges of adulthood.

The calm silence of Moharli, broken only by alarm calls and the soft crunch of leaves beneath powerful paws, made the encounter even more magical. Watching Collarwali’s cub in such intimate proximity was more than just a tiger sighting, it was witnessing the next generation of Tadoba’s wild legacy slowly stepping into its kingdom.

The New Giants of Bandhavgarh

During our expeditions in Bandhavgarh, we came across wild elephants on several occasions. Every encounter was unforgettable—and a reminder that these magnificent animals demand both respect and distance.

These elephants are relatively new to Bandhavgarh, having naturally migrated from the forests of Chhattisgarh into Bandhavgarh Tiger Reserve. What began with around 20 elephants has now grown to more than 60 individuals, making Bandhavgarh one of central India’s newest elephant landscapes. But this conservation success comes with a challenge.

Wild elephants are among the most intelligent animals on Earth, but they can also be highly unpredictable and extremely dangerous, especially if they feel threatened or are protecting calves. Observing them safely means giving them space and never attempting to approach them.

As elephants expand their range beyond forests, they frequently enter nearby villages in search of food, leading to crop losses, damaged homes, and increasing human-elephant conflict. For many farming families, a single night of elephant activity can destroy an entire season’s harvest.

Conservation isn’t just about protecting elephants—it’s about creating a future where people and wildlife can coexist. Securing elephant corridors, reducing conflict, and supporting local communities are essential if these giants are to thrive in Bandhavgarh.

Sometime delays are blessings. Trust the timings !!

We entered through the Moharli Gate over 15 minutes later than the other safari vehicles due to
a technical issue. What initially felt like an unfortunate delay & disappointment, turned into an unforgettable blessing.

We were treated to an exclusive sighting of one of Collarwali’s cubs confidently walking along the main road, stopping occasionally to scent-mark and reinforce her territory.

Witnessing this young tigress display such natural, instinctive behaviour without any other vehicles around made this sighting truly special.

P151 Subadult Cub at the River Bank

Under the blazing summer sun, the river becomes more than just water, it becomes life.

Legendary tigress P151 and her cubs find a moment of respite along the banks of the Ken River in Panna, where the cool water offers relief from the relentless heat. As temperatures soar, these precious river corridors become essential for survival, providing water, shade, and a chance to recharge before disappearing back into the forest.

Earlier this year, during our boat safari, we met P151 and her both subadult cubs at different spots along the river bank.

Tragically, one of these subadult got killed in a conflict with the dominant tiger P661 on 30th Jun, the last day of safari season at Panna. (We are not sure which one)

At the Gopalpur pond in Tala zone, Bandhavgarh, this magnificent peacock unfolded his iridescent train and began an enchanting dance, each feather shimmering with nature’s finest artistry.

With graceful turns, rhythmic vibrations, and a dazzling display of colors, he performed his timeless courtship ritual, hoping to win the attention of a nearby peahen.

Although the attempt was failed.

Queen of Zari in Her Natural Realm

In the Zari Core zone of Tadoba-Andhari Tiger Reserve, Tigress Shivani rules with quiet confidence. After a successful hunt and a heavy feast, she retreated to the comfort of a nearby waterhole. Beneath the shade of the forest, she rested in complete calm, breathing slowly, conserving energy, and cooling herself after the intensity of the kill.

From feeding to resting and finally relieving herself, every act reflected the untamed rhythm of the wild — where survival, strength, and instinct exist in perfect balance. taken in Tadoba - Andhari Tiger Reserve by @bhavinc_com

Eye to Eye with Dhikala’s Rising Male

The young prince of Dhikala, subadult male of Pedwali — wandered cautiously along the banks of the Ramganga River, scanning the flowing waters as if deciding whether to cross.

The golden evening light reflected off his striped coat while the wilderness around him fell silent in anticipation. After a few moments of hesitation, he turned away from the river and began walking straight down the track toward us.

With every confident step, his presence grew stronger — raw, fearless, and full of youthful dominance. Dust rose beneath his paws, his piercing eyes locked ahead, creating a heart-racing head-on encounter that felt both intimidating and magical.
