Friends — We have major news: Dan, Susie and I are moving to New Hampshire later this month!! After extended, abstract discussions about the possibility of leaving New York City, when an amazing job opportunity for Dan recently came through, we decided to set things in motion.

I’m feeling *many* emotions right now. I’m happy, as I look forward to putting down roots somewhere new, to building community, to discovering the pleasures of a slower pace of life. I’m sad, about leaving New York — I’ve never lived anywhere else! — while acknowledging that the city’s energy, which made me who I am, has lately been wearing away at me. I’m scared, fearing what life will feel like somewhere so quiet, with hiking trails instead of sidewalks, with low population density, without easily accessible distractions. Yet most of all I am surprised: at how *right* this feels, and by how excited I am about what lies in store.

Thanks to numerous family members in the state, we’ve spent lots of time in New Hampshire in recent years. It will be a joy to get to know such a beautiful place even more deeply, and savor it with our clan. I know I’ll miss New York City acutely — in ways I anticipate, and ways I can’t — but I won’t be a stranger. Returning to the city as a visitor (!!!) will make me fall in love with my hometown in fabulous new ways.

For the immediate future, we’ll be living in a rented house in Manchester as we determine our forever home. We’ll be an hour from Boston, on the way to Maine, not far from Vermont...New England really isn’t that big. Which means it won’t be hard for any (or many!) of you to visit.

it’s been over 2 months since we got back from a trip across northern #SPAIN!

2+ wonderful weeks of gothic and pre-romanesque churches, beachside carousels, monumental sculptures, high-speed trains, and loads and loads of octopus to admire and eat. we are grateful to have made such memories this year…here’s to many more!!
