He described sensing an unseen presence in the room, accompanied by unexplained disturbances, including flickering lights and cupboards opening on their own.

During the session, a message attributed to Sukumar reportedly described Conan Doyle’s accounts of the afterlife as “true, but laced with imagination.”

Whether it was truly a message from beyond remained uncertain, but Tagore documented his experiences in a letter that very day.

দুর্গাপুজোর ঠিক এক সপ্তাহ আগে থেকেই প্রবল জ্বরে ভুগতে শুরু করেছিল ঋষভ। বাঁশদ্রোণীর ১৭/২ শ্যামাপল্লি লেনের বাসিন্দা ঋষভ দশম শ্রেণির ছাত্র। জ্বরের সঙ্গে শুরু হলো বমি, কমে গেল কথাবার্তা। কোনও ওষুধেই কাজ হচ্ছিল না। হাসপাতালে ভর্তি করার উপক্রম।

কিন্তু সবকিছুর শুরু হয়েছিল টিউশন থেকে ফেরার পথে সেই ভাঙা মন্দিরে ঢোকার পর।

শোনা যায়, বহু যুগ আগে সেখানে দুর্গাপুজো হতো। মন্দিরের পিছনের দিক দিয়ে ঢোকা নিষেধ, কিন্তু কৌতূহল আর লুকিয়ে সিগারেট খাওয়ার লোভে ঋষভ ঢুকে পড়েছিল ভিতরে। ধুলোয় ঢাকা ভাঙা মূর্তিগুলোর দিকে তাকিয়েও সে বুঝতে পারেনি কী ভয়ংকর ভুল করেছে।

পরিবারের পুরোহিতের জেরার মুখে সব কথা প্রকাশ্যে এল। তিনি জানালেন, ওটা আসলে পাশাপাশি থাকা দুটো মন্দিরের দ্বিতীয়টি। প্রথম মন্দিরটির বাইরে ও পিছনে প্রবেশ নিষেধের নিয়ম থাকলেও, দ্বিতীয় মন্দিরটির সামনে-পিছনে দু'দিক দিয়েই প্রবেশ নিষিদ্ধ। ওই অভিশপ্ত জমি কিনতে গিয়ে একের পর এক প্রোমোটারের মৃত্যু হয়েছে।

শেষ পর্যন্ত ঋষভকে নিয়ে যাওয়া হলো কালিঘাটের এক বৃদ্ধ পুরোহিতের কাছে। তিনি সিদ্ধান্ত নিলেন, মহালয়ার ভোর চারটেয়, দেবীপক্ষের সূচনায়, সেই মন্দিরেই পুজো হবে। কুমোরটুলি থেকে আনা হলো ছোট্ট একটি দুর্গাপ্রতিমা। বাড়ির সবাই মিলে ভোররাতে পুজোর আয়োজন করলেন।

ঋষভ বিছানায় শুয়েই পুজোর মন্ত্র শুনেছিল।

তারপর থেকেই ধীরে ধীরে জ্বর কমল, বন্ধ হলো বমি। সম্পূর্ণ সুস্থ হয়ে সে আইসিএসই পরীক্ষায় ভালো ফলও করল।

পরের বছর থেকে বাঁশদ্রোণীর স্থানীয় ক্লাব সেই জমিতেই বড় করে দুর্গাপুজো শুরু করল। কিন্তু ছোট্ট দ্বিতীয় মন্দিরটিতে আজও কারও প্রবেশের অনুমতি নেই।
