Milky poached fish and silken tofu soup (milky from collagen not dairy). Flash-fry fish bones, add boiling water, dates and goji berries, fatty white fish etc etc. A very cool recipe. Don’t forget chilli oil. taken in Malmö, Sweden by @bhvnp

This is going to sound ridiculous but for about 4 years, I would get nervous to see a basque cheesecake on a menu. I avoided it at all costs, getting an anxious feeling in my finger tips, worried that it wouldn’t live up to my expectations. It just looked like it would be the greatest thing I would ever taste and experience.

When it finally felt like the right time to order it, sitting opposite Charlie in a fancy place when we’d first moved to Malmö, it fell short. Kinda sour in the wrong way, rushed, exactly what it shouldn’t be. But it also meant I had to give it a go myself. The secret: 4 cheeses. Not the ones you’d expect! And of course time. This was a long awaited sweet treat. Worth the journey. Served it with a homemade coffee syrup🙂‍↔️🙂‍↔️ taken in Malmö, Sweden by @bhvnp

I found a leftover (and forgotten) lightly curried chicken wonton filling stuffed in the back of my freezer. I’d made it around 6 months ago – completely packed full of ginger and spring onion and other surprising flavours. Added some sweet, gently steamed pumpkin, that I bought from a pumpkin farmer who reminds me of my nana, and blended with a touch of miso. Fresh pasta, crème fraîche, pecorino etc etc. Corn and pumpkin seed crisp. One of the best lunches I’ve made. taken in Malmö, Sweden by @bhvnp

Baked goods for @amaltheabokkafe !

This was the most I’d ever baked in the space of 24 hours. Just me and the sound of my stand mixer whirring away. Delivered it by hand covered in flour and cake batter. Pure joy!

Menu:

- 3 variations of Japanese milk buns (the best had an amaretto and apricot jam).
- Brown sugar pineapple and ginger upside down cake
- Chocolate Guinness cake, served with a salted vanilla whip and tomato leaf oil (which was gobbled up before I got to take any pics.) ♥️ taken in Malmö, Sweden by @bhvnp

Cooked up a big breakfast for my neighbour @studio234plusofficial

Menu:
- plantain cake w fig leaf whip, rhubarb curd and fermented persimmon
- Plantain cake w espresso and orzata whip and fig leaf syrup
- Cheddar and chili cornbread muffins with hot honey butter and pickled green peppercorns
- Coconut rice porridge with a pineapple and hibiscus compote
- Scotch bonnet spiced black eyed beans and bread sliders.

Part 1: Dear friends and family,

These last few months have been a complete blur but I’d like to take a moment to introduce you to someone very important to me.

On June 6th, 2023 – I met Charlie for the first time.

We’ve been pretty much inseparable since then. I can’t believe in this big scary world, we managed to find each other. We’re known as “the husbands” and often confused for being a couple. After spending what feels like a lifetime feeling misunderstood, it was a relief to have a person like Charlie step into my life. Not wanting anything but genuine happiness for me. Accepting me fully for all my madness.

Charlie is a grand listener, patience is their second language, cooking is their first. Although this is the shortest friendship I have, it doesn’t take much to see how we’ve been on the same team since day one. I’m sure we must have been married in a past life, or dog best friends in another, for it took a minute to meet you again but here we are.

Charlie became home from home, literally. I moved into their building in the beginning half of 2024 and then we moved in together to a handsome apartment in Malmö from September. From strangers, to friends, to roommates. It all seemed so perfect. And it still is. We planned to move to a smaller, calmer city to create our bigger picture moment – maybe try a supper club or make furniture or something in the middle. Everyday I woke up grateful knowing that I have my best friend sleeping in the room next door. What a calm feeling that gives me in my chest. By loving you, and your transness, I ended up falling a bit more in love with myself. By loving you, I got the chance to accept myself fully. By loving you, I became kinder to the parts that once filled me with shame.

UPDATE:

Dear all,

THANK YOU—truly—for every donation, every share and every kind thought. Each gesture has given Charlie the chance to find moments of calm in the midst of so much uncertainty.

Charlie has now chosen to close the fundraiser. They continue to gain strength with each passing day.

Charlie’s deeply grateful—humbled, even—by the love and support that’s been sent their way. There aren’t enough words to express how much it means to watch them be able to rest in the comfort of friends, family and strangers.

As Charlie continues on this path, they will carry on focusing on rest, healing, and the things that matter most. With a final goal in sight: to be cancer free. Thank you again.
