where kpop meets underground club music. 🔊🪽✨

POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

“Oh shit, there’s a female DJ? Female DJ can play?”

That’s what Seesea could hear from the crowd while she was playing. Ten years ago in Seoul, a lot of people weren’t there to listen. They were waiting to see if she’d mess up.

So she started renting a practice room by the hour. Same track, over and over, a thousand different ways, until she stopped giving them anything to catch.

BIAS Conversations, episode one, out Thursday.

A new series from BIAS NYC: we sit down with the DJs, artists, and community builders holding up underground culture in their cities. No stages, no sets. Just a meal and a real conversation with people we love.

For episode one we’re in Seoul with @seesea_the_techno_gaksul (aka Techno Gaksuli) and @parkdaham, two of our favorite people who’ve been key figures of that scene for over a decade. Over tteokbokki, soondae, and homemade pizza we get into how they found subculture, what it actually took to build space for women and queer folks in Seoul nightlife, how the city’s sound has changed, and where it’s headed.

We also get into why the line between K-pop and underground club culture is getting harder to draw, and why that’s not a bad thing.

Pull up a chair. Thursday.

Our signature BIAS Bliss Raver Tee is now available online on Instagram shop and Shopify!

Inspired by cycling jerseys, engineered for the rave. The raver tee puts our mascot front and center against a reimagined Windows XP landscape — bold, nostalgic, and unseriously chic. Built from 4-way stretch performance polyester with a full front zip, this jersey moves with you whether you’re on a rooftop, rave, or a bike ride.

We’re proud to announce that our documentary, “BIASes” @biasesfilm will have its Seoul premiere at the 16th Seoul International PRIDE Film Festival in the “Korea Pride” shorts section ! @sipff_official

Three years ago, we came to Seoul and @aaron.y.choe shot this documentary to capture how the members of our Brooklyn kpop dance party grew an opportunity to access and integrate into the underground nightlife and queer scene in the epicenter of kpop.

Thank you @sipff_official for featuring our story as part of Korea’s collective heritage and queer pride. Directed by @aaron.y.choe, beautifully edited by @hannah__choe, and produced and promoted through the festival circuit by @kkangsanghee. <3
