⚠️ Severe Weather Threat Today – Tuesday, July 21

Numerous strong to severe thunderstorms are expected across a large portion of the eastern United States this afternoon and tonight, stretching from the Ohio and Tennessee Valleys into the Mid-Atlantic and Northeast.

🟠 The Storm Prediction Center has placed parts of the region under an Enhanced Risk (Level 3 of 5) for severe thunderstorms, with a broader Slight Risk (Level 2 of 5) extending into much of New York.

💨 Damaging winds are the primary concern. Some storms could produce wind gusts of 55 to 70 mph, which may be strong enough to bring down trees and power lines and cause power outages.

🌪️ A few tornadoes are also possible. The greatest tornado potential appears to be from the Hudson Valley into parts of western Massachusetts and Connecticut, although a lower tornado risk extends across a much larger area.

🧊 Large hail is also possible, but is a lower overall threat compared with damaging winds.

Thunderstorms are expected to increase in coverage through the afternoon and evening as a cold front moves through. Some storms may quickly organize into lines or clusters, increasing the potential for damaging wind.

If you have outdoor plans, keep an eye on changing weather conditions and make sure you have a reliable way to receive severe weather warnings. Never rely on outdoor warning sirens as your only source of alerts.

Things aren't too serious today, there are area of general thunderstorms and some Marginal areas which mean some storms could be capable of damaging winds, severe hail, and a localized tornado threat that could develop but at least nothing more serious than that.

Tomorrow though, there is a large area of slight risk for severe storms in the northeast, mid-atlantic and parts of the eastern midwest. by @big.al.315

This wildfire smoke is no joke. Here is a shot of a webcam that overlooks Bayfront Park in Duluth, MN. It's just south of an area where there is currently a lot of wildfires burning and the AQI is in the high 600's. I also included a screenshot from Earthcam's view of Niagara Falls. The AQI there is just over 100.

I also included a screenshot from the HRRR weather model showing Vertically Integrated Smoke which shows where that smoke is currently going.

🌩️ A Rare Severe Weather Setup Across Northern New England – July 14, 2026

Today's forecast is one we don't see very often in the Northeast.

While severe thunderstorms occur every year, it's rare to see elevated threats for damaging winds, tornadoes, and large hail all align across northern New England. That's why today's forecast has the attention of meteorologists.

Here's a breakdown of today's threats:

💨 Damaging Winds: The primary concern. Parts of Maine have some of the highest probabilities for damaging thunderstorm winds, with storms capable of producing widespread tree damage and scattered power outages.

🌪️ Tornadoes: A few tornadoes are possible, especially across portions of Maine. While tornadoes won't be widespread, today's environment is more favorable than we typically see in this region.

🧊 Large Hail: The strongest storms could also produce large hail capable of damaging vehicles, roofs, and crops.

⚡ Overall Risk: Much of Vermont, New Hampshire, and Maine is under a Marginal (Level 1 of 5) or Slight (Level 2 of 5) severe weather risk. These categories don't mean everyone will experience severe weather, but storms that do develop could become severe quickly.

🛰️ Forecast guidance continues to show storms developing this afternoon before organizing as they move east. Forecasters will be watching closely for storms capable of producing damaging winds, large hail, and a few tornadoes.

📱 If you're in the highlighted areas, stay weather aware, have multiple ways to receive warnings, and be ready to take shelter if a Severe Thunderstorm or Tornado Warning is issued.

This is one of those days that weather enthusiasts watch closely because these types of severe weather setups are relatively uncommon in northern New England. I'll continue monitoring conditions and post updates as watches, warnings, and storms develop.

Why is it such a red flag to want to know about your friends lives? To want to know about the moments both big and small, to want to hear about their day, to want to send them motivation, send random photos or memes or reels back and forth. To just chat with them about like and want to hang out and have fun, play games, or just chill.

Why are those things such red flags? Why are they red flags with some of your friends but things you love doing with other friends?

⚠️ SEVERE WEATHER OUTLOOK ⚠️

A Slight Risk (Level 2 of 5) for severe thunderstorms is in place today across parts of the Southeast and Mid-Atlantic, as well as portions of the northern and central High Plains.

The greatest threat across the Southeast and Mid-Atlantic will be scattered severe thunderstorms this afternoon and evening capable of producing damaging wind gusts and a few tornadoes.

Across the northern and central High Plains, isolated to scattered severe storms are expected, with large to very large hail being the primary concern.

If you live in these areas, stay weather aware and have multiple ways to receive warnings, especially during the afternoon and evening hours.

I have a ton of content from a while back that I haven't posted. I've been struggling a lot with life and depression and some other things and I haven't really felt up to posting things. I still don't feel up to posting things but I also want to get these videos posted.

I struggle a lot with feeling worthless and things feeling pointless. It's a tough battle everyday.

Another day with possible severe storms. There is an area of enhanced risk for severe weather that stretches from Minnesota and Wisconsin down through Illinois, Iowa, Missouri, and Kansas. As you can see, all threats are on the table...but the highest tornado risk appears to be around Western Illinois, Eastern Iowa, and Northern Missouri with a 10-14 % probability of a tornado within 25 miles of a point and the dash marked area indicates the atmosphere can support tornadoes up to EF2 strength or higher. About 20% of tornadoes that form in this environment may become strong (EF2+). Tornadoes can develop from any storm mode, including supercells, lines, and storm clusters.
