This video was filmed just one week before we were preparing to move our beloved shark, Carlos, into a larger space. Only a few days later, we received the heartbreaking news of an unexpected accident that led to his passing.

Like many of you, our team was deeply saddened. Those who work with animals every day do so because of a genuine love and respect for them, and Carlos was no exception. He was more than just a shark in an aquarium, he was a part of our Big Al’s family and a source of wonder for countless visitors over the years.

This video serves as a tribute to Carlos and the special bond he shared with one of our team members, Brandon. Through years of care, trust, and daily interaction, a unique connection was formed one that will always be remembered by those who had the privilege of witnessing it.

Our team cared deeply for this animal, and we remain grateful to our staff and veterinary partners for their support, compassion, and dedication throughout this difficult time.

For more than three decades, sharks have been a part of Big Al’s Mississauga, creating lasting memories for generations of customers, families, and staff. While Carlos’ passing marks the end of an era and we will not be bringing any new sharks to any of our big al’s locations.

We are incredibly grateful for the love, kindness, and support that so many of you have shown over the years. Thank you for being part of Carlos’ story and for helping create so many cherished memories alongside us.

Rest peacefully, Carlos. You will always be remembered🦈❤️
