WHOAH! We’re incredibly honored to be included on this year’s @nytimes Top 50 and even more encouraged by @kimseverson’s kind words about her visit. Opening a restaurant is incredibly hard. Running a restaurant is even harder, so it means THE WORLD to us when someone comes, enjoys themselves, and leaves excited to return. That’s the whole mission here. We knew we had our work cut out for us revitalizing this multi-generation space, so it feels amazing to see it full of people eating, laughing, and escaping for a few hours— week after week. Thank you for all the texts and calls this morning, and we hope you’ll visit us soon.

The cat is officially out of the bag... RM's 2026 Best New Restaurant of the Year @bigcat.brookside just scored a spot on @nytimes’ 50 “favorite places in America right now” 2026 Restaurant List—and the only NC restaurant to grab a mention.

"Never underestimate the power of the supergroup," writes NYT's Kim Severson. "Five of the city’s best chefs, restaurateurs and bar owners came together and created a sly, inviting neighborhood restaurant and bodega complete with cat kitsch and a deceptively familiar menu." Congrats, Big Cat! 🐱🔥

Huge thanks to @pinkpotatoeats and @southernlivingmag for visiting our restaurant and shining a little light on a project that’s so much more than a sum of its parts. “The space may have lived a few lives before, but this time, it’s found its soul.” is such a flattering and meaningful compliment to our team, and we couldn’t be more proud. A giant papier-mâché cat head. Maximalist decor. Korean fried eggplant. 👀

They’re all right at home @bigcat.brookside, Raleigh’s East Mordecai neighborhood spot where the menu is just as playful as the space. 🐱

Pull up a seat and dig into a rotating lineup of creative, globally inspired dishes, like duck fat chicken wings, personal cornbread skillets with curry leaf butter and Korean fried eggplant you’ll dream about for days afterward.

We’re hosting a fundraiser for the @emmaconnfoundation on Tuesday September 22nd from 6-8pm. That’s right! The kids are working back into their routines, so it’s time for the parents to have a night to celebrate. Tickets include a special cocktail or mocktail and there will be snacks provided by the Big Cat kitchen. Bar will be open for additional drinks, beers, and wine, and we’ll have a raffle going throughout the event. Let’s raise some money!!! taken in BIG CAT by @bigcat.brookside

As if you need another reason to come check out Big Cat, today is #Wine #Wednesday for those who celebrate — That means every bottle is 10% off and every glass is $1 cheaper. If you’re looking to expand your knowledge or maybe just try a new grape, Greg will happily stop by the table and get you up to speed. (He lives for that)😘
