The doctor's are not always right, listen to your body. I had my appendix removed in June and my follow up was in July. I knew that I wasn't 100%, so I asked the NP if she could give me one more round of antibiotics. She told me that I didn't need it. Ok np, I thug it out.
I get back to Phoenix and I'm still having the same stomach pain that I had the fist time I went to the ER. Yesterday was unbearable, so I go back to the ER. They did a CT scan and the doctor told me he see an infection and a spot that may need to be drained. I get transferred to another hospital where the surgeon was at. Several hours later, the surgeon says: I do see an infection in the area where your appendix was removed. However, there is nothing to drain and no surgery would help. I'm going to put you on antibiotics for 10 days. Then come in my office for a follow-up. I told him if the NP would have given me more antibiotics I wouldn't be here and he agreed.
Listen to your body and get a second opinion if you don't agree with the first one. taken in Phoenix, Arizona by @bigchefjaron
