This October, @gavinfeeney and I will be taking on our first marathon, raising funds for the Alzheimer Society of Ireland.

A few years ago, I never imagined I’d be into running. Cycling had always been my thing, but after a couple of particularly wet Irish summers, it became harder and harder to find a decent window to get out on the bike. I was getting itchy feet, so I started running instead… and never really looked back.

After running a few half-marathons, a full marathon seemed like the next challenge. When Gavin got a place through the Alzheimer Society of Ireland, it didn’t take much convincing for me to join him. It felt like the right time to do something in Dad’s memory.

Our Dad, Paddy, was diagnosed with early-onset Alzheimer’s in 2007 at just 58. We lost him in 2020 after a long battle with the disease.

Dad was truly one of life’s great characters. He had a glint in his eye, a mischievous sense of humour, and an incredible ability to put people instantly at ease. Recruitment and headhunting were a perfect fit for him because he was, at heart, a genuine people person. He had an amazing knack for reading people and took real pleasure in helping others find opportunities and reach their potential.

He worked incredibly hard, built lasting friendships wherever he went, and always seemed to leave people smiling. If he believed in a person or a cause, he backed them wholeheartedly. He had a rare gift for making people feel valued, and that’s the legacy so many remember him for.

Alzheimer’s is a cruel disease that affects not only the individual but the whole family. There’s no map for navigating it, and the right support can make an enormous difference.

That’s why I am raising money for the @alzsocirl , which provides vital support to people living with dementia and their families.

I am really looking forward to taking this on with Gavin. Since we signed up, he has trained with a level of discipline and focus I could only dream of. Knowing Gavin, he’ll probably be finished, showered and halfway through a celebratory pint before I cross the line.

Cracking night @pawnshopdublin on Saturday! 🙌🏻 The place was absolutely hopping. Big love to Dao and the whole team for always creating a great atmosphere. Without a doubt, Dublin’s buzziest venue. The new sound is 🔥.

He’s back. We’re back.

My main man @robbie_ryan_rhythm_expedition is back from Australia for a few weeks, so we’re getting the Big Dish Go family back together in @pawnshopdublin .

Myself, @gavinfeeney and Robbie have a combined 80+ years behind the decks between us 👴🏻

The stars don’t align too often for all three of us these days.

We’ll be back behind the decks together for the first time in a while, digging deep and doing what we love most.

Looking forward to getting the old band back together.

This one’s going to be special.

Wallace Dublin Debut 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿☘️🇮🇪

Landing in @hangdaichinese this Sunday.

He’s been at it a long time, quietly putting in a decade refining his sound before things properly clicked, and you can hear that depth in the music. Releases across Rhythm Section, Studio Barnhus, Mule Musiq and Phantasy have marked him out, alongside his own Tartan Records output.

He’s coming in fresh off a mini tour up north playing b2b with Erol Alkan, and recently closed Panorama Bar, which tells you where he’s at right now. Also, just did a remix for Kneecap & Orbital’s Phil Hartnoll.

Expect deep, hypnotic, psychedelic rhythms and percussive rolling grooves.

I am on early doors playing b2b with me old pal Mick Byrnes (Board of Works) 🤝 our first time playing together, and my first time playing in Hang Dai.

It’s going to be a buzzy one! 🐝
