It’s an idea so obvious @thespottedolive and I were embarrassed we didn’t do it from the start! If you back any tier containing Watercolor, you’ll have a chance to win your pet (or an animal of your choosing) painted right into the game! We’ll draw one winner at the end of the campaign. If you’ve already backed, you’re in the pool too. 🐈🐕‍🦺🐩🐇🦔🐿️🦝🦡🐖🐄🐂🦬🫏🦋 by @bighead_games

Small box games can pack a lot of fun, and I recently got to try three 2-player card games from @bighead_games, each with its own twist!

🎲 Gumblers:

A cute, quick push-your-luck game that feels a little like playing craps or roulette in a small box. Earn money by predicting what the die will land on and be the first to collect all the ingredient cubes. The riskier the prediction, the more money you can earn, making it a lot of fun seeing how adventurous everyone was willing to be with their guesses. Do you play it safe and bet on odd or even, or go big by predicting the exact number? With various ways to bet, sometimes playing it safe pays off, but other times you just have to go for it!

✂️ Rock Paper Scissors 2:

This one takes a game we all know and adds a fun twist by having you play two games at once! Winning gets you the visible point card, but losing means taking the hidden card underneath, which could be worth more or less. And ties? Those get settled with a coin flip! This one is all about trying to get inside your opponent's head, and if you enjoy a little bluffing, social manipulation, and talking your way into a better outcome, there's plenty of room for that here.

🎨 Watercolor:

A ladder-climbing game where you're trying to get rid of your cards while trying to be the first to collect two prize cards. The fun twist is how you build numbers: played cards must either be the same number or color and they don’t sum, so a 1 and a 6 can make either 16 or 61 rather than adding up to 7. You're playing higher numbers with the same or more cards, so there's an interesting puzzle in figuring out how to make the most of the cards in your hand. And don’t forget about the skill cards, giving each player a one time ability that may give you the advantage needed to pull ahead.

🌟 Final Thoughts:

Whether you enjoy testing your luck, trying to outsmart your opponent, or figuring out the best way to play your cards, these three games offer very different experiences in small boxes. Bighead Games has a Kickstarter campaign live now featuring all three, so check it out if you're looking for some new 2-player games to add to your collection! by @bighead_games

Have you ever looked at a game and thought “That belongs on a gallery wall”? That’s Watercolor, a card-shedding game that plays as nicely as it looks. 🥰

In Watercolor, you and your opponent race to empty your hand of Digit cards by playing higher valued Numbers than each other. The first to collect two Prize cards wins!

🎨 How It Plays

On your turn, you play a Number made of Digit cards in either the same colour or of the same digit. It also needs to be higher in value than your opponent’s Number and use either the same amount of Digit cards or one more. Once you’ve played your Number you Get Inspired by taking a Digit card from any previous Number.

If you can’t or don’t want to play, you can Pass, which clears the table and lets your opponent start a new Number. Each player also has a Skill card to shake things up at just the right moment.

The round ends when a player plays their last Digit card, and they collect a Prize card. Once a player collects 2 Prize cards, they are declared the winner.

🌈 Why We Love It

The real delight of this game is the beautiful watercolour art, which now includes 6 Prize cards illustrated by @thespottedolive.

It’s very relaxing and calming, but the strategy comes from watching which Digit card your opponent takes, which gives you a hint of what they might play next.

The Skill cards add interesting powers that can help you or hinder your opponent, which can make it a little more cut-throat at times without being overpowered that the win is guaranteed.

💙 Is it a PLAY or DELAY?

This is a PLAY for us! Making their bundle 3 for 3.

It’s such a lovely card game that is the perfect ‘dessert’ for a slower date night.

Watercolor is live on Kickstarter now! Three games, two players, one campaign! You can check out this game plus the other 2 using the link in our bio.

Whenever we play Gumblers, one game can quickly become 3 or 4 👀

In Gumblers, you and your opponent are pushing your luck. You call your shots, roll a die and race to fill your gumbo bowl with 5 unique ingredients!

🎲 How It Plays

On your turn, you look at your Call Your Shot card and choose one to call out, then roll the die. If your roll matches your call, you earn the Gumbo Bucks listed on the card. If it doesn’t, you still get 1 Gumbo Buck. At the end of your turn, you can spend your Gumbo Bucks at Mama Gumbino’s Market Stand to buy ingredients. The first to collect all five ingredients wins.

You can also push your luck on your opponent’s turn by Reading the Gumbones and counter calling their shot. Get it right and you take the Gumbo Bucks they would have earned, and they only get 1. Get it wrong and they earn two extra on top of what they earned.

🥘 Why We Love It

There’s a lot of strategy packed into one die roll. Higher calls pay out more, but you’re never left empty handed, as you always earn a single Gumbo Buck on your turn. You also have to decide whether to save your Gumbo Bucks for the pricier ingredients or spend early for the cheaper ones.

Calling high shots is addictive, and we’ve seen so many options packed into a single die roll!

It’s quick at 15 minutes a game, and if you’re really lucky you could play one in as little as 5 minutes! I don’t know how, but I (Karl) called 3 single numbers correctly IN A ROW 😅 - I should have tried the lottery honestly!

💙 Is it a PLAY or DELAY?

This is definitely a PLAY, for being so simple and addictive! ✨

Another great one for starting date night or even playable in between the main games - like a palette cleanser!

Gumblers is live on Kickstarter now. Three games, two players, one campaign! Go to the link in our bio to check it out.

We’ll be reviewing all 3 games so follow for the final game: Watercolor! 🫶

ROCK PAPER SCISSORS 2 🪨📄✂️2️⃣ from @bighead_games

Two players, two hands of cards, two games of Rock Paper Scissors... at the same time!

In Rock Paper Scissors 2, you and your opponent try to talk each other into winning (or losing) each game and claim the best prizes.

🪨 How It Plays

Each round, you both see the top prize card of two stacks, one for THIS game and one for THAT game. You then decide whether you want to win or lose each one. You can negotiate, lie, bribe or simply tell the truth. When you’re ready, you each play a Rock, Paper or Scissors card on each stack and reveal them together.

The winner of each stack takes the prize card you could both see, and the loser takes the one underneath, which could be much better or much worse. So you can win and still lose, or lose and still win!

Once both prize card stacks run out, the player with the most points wins.

📄 Why We Love It

Watching your partner decide whether to believe you is hilarious. If you want to know if you’re partner has a poker face, this is a game to test that 🤣 We had a few rounds get a little heated when one of us lied our way to a win 👀

There’s risk and variety in the prize cards. We love how everyone is unaware of the 2nd prize card, especially when the top card is a negative score so you’re both trying to lose. Do you take the loss, or risk it?

Like all 3 of their games, it takes up very little table space. So far we've played it at a restaurant, at home, on the table, on the floor and on the sofa!

✂️ Is it a PLAY or DELAY?

This is a PLAY for us.

It won't be for everyone, because it revolves heavily around social deduction and manipulating your opponent, but we were pleasantly surprised. For us, it was a great starter game for date night. ☺️

Rock Paper Scissors 2 is live on Kickstarter now. Three games, two players, one campaign! Go to the link in our bio to check it out.

We’ll be reviewing all 3 games so follow next for Gumblers! 🫶

Come check out Bighead Games three new game launching on Kickstarter TODAY!!

Watercolor 2nd Ed. Is a fantastic card shedder! My wife and I really enjoyed it and look forward to playing it more in the future. Whar I didn't mention in the video is that when you play down a two and eight of a single color that number is now twenty-eight or eighty-two, depending on what you want to play. The numbers are not additive.

This beautiful two player has you painting a masterpiece - in an abstract sort of way. But the cards you play and pick up affect who wins and who gets lost pondering which colors to use next.

We loved this one! We had some minor gripes with two of the colors being somewhat similar, but there are symbols on each color to help our color blind friends.

Gumblers is a push-your-luck game where you pick how prescient you feel to predict what your dice will roll. Be less risky for a small amount of gum-bucks, or try to predict a single number for a big reward! Buy the ingredients needed for your gumbo first to win this game.

With only a small handful of components and cards, this game really brings the fun. I feel that with the amount of luck this game has, it has the perfect length at 10-15 minutes. I really like the mechanic to bet against your opponent if you feel they're being too risky and you can win what they would have, but if they were right, they get even bigger rewards. This adds in some friction and conflict in an otherwise independent game (other than the race of it all) and really makes it shine.

Rock Paper Scissors 2 is going to be the most divisive in this set of games, but it also has a lot of potential to be your favorite one. It's really up to you how you decide to negotiate with each other, as well as how you handle tie breaks (they include a handy win/lose coin if you want to keep it simple). Be honest, negotiate, or bribe your way to victory, or take it by being deceitful - just know you won't be trusted again for the rest of the game. With the right opponent this game will be your favorite of the bunch.

Check out @bighead_games and their new Kickstarter to play these games for yourself!

Watercolor from @bighead_games is a delightfully light 2-player hand shedding card game.

You are only able to play the same amount of cards or one more as your opponent played. As you play your number cards you must follow two main rules. First, they must have a higher total value than the number just played. Second, you must pick up one previously played digit card from the pile and add it back into your hand.

At the beginning of the game you select one out of two random skill cards you are dealt. You keep your chosen skill card face down in front of you. Skill cards are marked as to what phase they are allowed to be played in and can give you quite the advantage.

Be the first to empty your hand of digit cards to collect a prize card. First player to collect two prize cards wins the game.

With easy to understand rules you are set up and playing in minutes.

Launching on Kickstarter October 16th!!
