autumn moodboard.. governed by the metal element, a season of reflection, meditation, to evaluate the quality of what’s happened thus far. a season to embrace the moments that will ask us to let go of what needs to decay for us, & to prepare ourselves to enter the depths of winter with only what we need, mentally, physically, spiritually. by @bigmoodacupuncture

late summer mood board…. 💛💛💛 in five element acupuncture the power of the earth element is decrease. when we leave the height of summer—home to the fire element—for the season of late summer, we drop down into the earth. this is when we create form from what’s come before; the flower turns into fruit. this gives us something we can hold onto; a sense of achievement, satisfaction, creating a feeling of safety in us. this is how the earth element provides us with a feeling of home. home inside of ourselves, wherever we may find ourselves in the world. by @bigmoodacupuncture

I ugly cried the first time I learnt about the Wood element in Five Elements theory, and the second time too.

My relationship with the Wood has always felt a little turbulent. It’s the energy of anger, assertion, vision, and direction. I’ve often felt more comfortable with timidity than expression. I tend to avoid confrontation, even though part of me craves honesty and directness.

Sometimes our relationship with an element is shaped by what we didn’t receive. And that absence can feel heavy. The hopeful, “have another go!” spirit of the Wood can feel bittersweet when it wasn’t mirrored back to us.

Healing isn’t about having it all figured out. It’s about noticing what is there too. The Wood element lives in me: in my creativity, my drive, and the part of me that tries again. Working with the Wood element doesn’t have to mean becoming bold overnight. Sometimes it’s just learning that anger can be safe, and that growth can be gentle.

Spring is the season of the Wood. It’s a time of renewal and new beginnings. Even when it feels far away, its energy is always quietly returning.
