THIS WEEK DIDN’T GO AS PLANNED.

Actually the last couple of months haven’t.

I was meant to be in sunny California continuing to celebrate my milestone birthday, surrounded by friends, the beats of some of my favourite artists and making memories to write the wrongs of the last 12 months.

But 7 weeks ago I hurt my back… largely due to lack of stretching, over training after trying to correct a shoulder injury last January and ignoring my what my body was telling me.

It was a simple twist and over extension which lead me to spending 48 hours curled up on the floor in pain, finally a trip to Emergency to reveal bulging discs and a nerve impingement which would leave me not walking properly and unable to weight train properly every since.

Unpopular opinion - I don’t train for the physical benefits - my lack of content on here is largely # due to the fact that I don’t actually like what I see (thanks body dysmorphia and childhood trauma); I train for the mental release and to keep my mind in check, otherwise I tend to spiral into a state of overthinking and overwhelm.

It’s been a gruelling past few weeks - between misdiagnosis, sub-par physiotherapists and fighting with my health insurance to get to see the specialist I need… all while grinning and bearing a milestone birthday, house move and some tough career challenges.

This weekend I went into hospital to have an investigative operation and injections into my spine to get me on to the road to recovery. Being 15,000 miles away from family never gets more real than when moments like these happen. There was a lot of worry, anxiety and tears leading up to this.

But I’m home… resting and recovering. And thank you to my friends who have helped me, checked in on me, the family FaceTimes and well wishes from afar.

Being forced to pause, reflect and reconsider a lot of things is not necessarily a bad thing… just one I didn’t really need right now. And learning how to retrain my mind to breathe and release thoughts and stress in other ways has been a struggle.

But we move! A gentle reminder when life gives you lemons, listen to what it’s telling you. Lets get the body moving again and back to fighting fit. 💪🏻 taken in London, United Kingdom by @bigozfox

Australian heart, London hustle. ✈️🇬🇧
After a much-needed reset back home in Sydney and right up and down the east coast, the tank is officially full. There’s a different kind of motivation that hits when you’ve taken the time to rest, reconnect, and realise how far you’ve come.

I’m stepping into this year with so much gratitude for the journey. Fitness has always been my anchor, and I’m ready to show up as the best, happiest version of myself alongside some gains!
