Thanks to my amazing children and their wonderful spouses for bringing all of our grandchildren (and most of their dogs) to Hunt to celebrate the Resurrection of Jesus. It's a special time when all 21 of us are together. by @bigricktx

Tried to get something accomplished on this rainy day and laid the mini ex over. I let the more experienced guys stand it back up. Oh well, it's a rental (just kidding).
I need to just to stay in the puckup and leave the machine operation to the professionals. Hoping for a sunny day tomorrow so we can continue our mission.
As always, Julie and I are grateful for the generosity of our friends, family and complete strangers. Even the smallest contribution to the cause makes a difference to our community. Please continue to pray for the victims and their families. by @bigricktx

Got rained out Sunday and today but needed the time off to fuel and maintain equipment, fix tires, and load out the guys that left out. I've had some great equipment donated and great operators to run them. I hope they keep coming

The photo is just a random disaster shot of debris piles along the river. By the way, those are 50 ton excavators sitting next to them. by @bigricktx

Big hugs and thanks to my grandchildren for the $2,225 that they raised at their neighborhood lemonade stand in University Park last week. It went directly to the Hunt VFD. Thanks to all who patronized their little stand. Once again, I'm in awe of people's generosity. I'll share another cool story of generosity tomorrow if I can get a photo to associate with it. (I'm not a big photo guy). by @bigricktx

At our riverfront looking south from SH-39. It gets quiet around 7:00 pm. Hard to believe it's been a week. Time has flown by.
I can't say enough about how generous this state and country has been to the area. I'm in awe of the resources coming in. (BTW- I got my fuel and dump trailer problem solved). From the young ladies from Houston hauling wet, muddy clothes out of a neighbors house to friends loaning heavy equipment with operators and no strings attached. It all helps and it all means a lot to us. Thanks to all who have given, served and prayed for us from the bottom of my heart.

I'm posting this mostly for my Mystic alumni friends . This is my dear friend and neighbor , Mere Vasquez. Mere has worked at Camp Mystic for 39 years and is beloved by campers and alumni young and old. Thankfully, he and his family are safe. As the water rose, he took his family to the attic and busted a hole in the roof (red circle) with a tire tool. They waited on the roof until rescued. A bunch of volunteers pitched in and salvaged what they could and dried out the house yesterday. It's touching to see all of these volunteers just looking to help out in some way. We residents are so grateful for the outpouring of help. Keep on giving and helping. It makes a difference. by @bigricktx

Re: photo: Thankfully, Crider's rodeo arena survived for the most part. Crider's is such a huge part of this community and holds so many family memories

Today was a great and productive day for me and my team. My place looks like an equipment yard and I have a great bunch of operators. We are working the north bank of the river from Arrowhead Crossing to "Lucy's Place", about a quarter mile to the east . It takes a lot of men and equipment to turn big piles of debris into little piles so it can be sifted through before being pushed up into a different, big pile.
If any one has skid steers (90 hp, with tracks, grapple and bucket), mini excavators (8,000 lb plus), dump trailers with tow vehicles, chainsaw crewd or fuel trailers thatthey wish to put to work, let me know. I can provide fuel (gas and diesel) , hydraulic oil, fuel mix, bar oil, hot meals (very good), shelter (nice housing, actually ), refreshments, etc. In some cases I can provide operators, chainsaws and tow vehicles. I can put assets right to work and dont waste anyones time. There's lots to be done, believe me Please DM or text me if you want to help. Any and all help is greatly appreciated. by @bigricktx

I happened to be up at the Hunt Store when Governor Abbot arrived for his afternoon press conference I couldn't stay for it because I couldn't take anymore talk about dead or missing people. Its getting to be that way with hearing sirens, helicopters, chainsaws, skid steersand back up alarms and seeing camp foot lockers and body bags. Our riverfront is the approximate center point of a half mile stretch of the south fork (Arrowhead Crossing to Casa Bonita) that has claimed over 30 lives. I lost track of how many have been recovered in the same stretch.
Through the generosity of friends and family, I've be able to put together a team of about six skid steers, three mini excavators, four dump trailers, 1,000 gallon fuel cell, countless chainsaws and lots of volunteer help to start cleaning up. The best thing about that is that it keeps my mind off of this horror movie from 6:00 am to 9:00 pm.
I wouldn't know where to start thanking people. We are covered up in food, water, hot meals, etc
If people want to help financially, the Hunt VFD is a great steward of desperately needed resources ( and Kirk Griffin '81 is assistant fire chief, Aggies). You can donate online. The VFD will be dealing with this for a long time to come. Thanks again to all who have helped so much. by @bigricktx

I found this koozie Monday morning while clearing debris at my next door neighbor's place . Little reminders like this are everywhere.

On a brighter note, the outpouring of help from our fellow Texans has been absolutely amazing.
We're so very grateful for all of the individuals and organizations that have covered us up with supplies, water, meals, equipment, manpower and other much needed resources for the recovery effort. Many thanks to our friends and family who have made it possible for me to deploy multiple crews with chainsaws, skid steers, mini-excavators and dump trailers in the field to help with the ongoing task of searching for victims. I'm now trying to find a fuel trailer to keep all of that equipment running. Blessings to those who gave Keep praying and giving. (The Hunt VFD is a great organization to give to. Their resources will be stretched for sometime to come). by @bigricktx

We got our power restored around 7:30 pm. Many thanks to Kerrville Public Utility Board and its contractors for working so hard to help us get out of the dark.
It rained more this afternoon but not enough to raise the river (on the south fork, anyway). Hopefully we'll get a break in the weather so we can start the long process of cleaning up. It's overwhelming to look at. Whatever you've seen on television doesn't do the carnage justice. It sounds cliche' but we are going to rebuild this community.
We know a lot of you are praying for our us and our town and we really appreciate it. by @bigricktx

Thanks for all of the kind notes of concern that we've gotten from our friends and family since the flood. By the grace of God, Julie and I are safe and sound. Not much left of our little town, though . Tragically, we have several friends and neighbors who are dead or missing. Our hearts go out to all of the families who lost love ones. It's hard to get your head around how completely destroyed everything along both sides the river.
We've had countless offers of help, and that means the world to us. We really have got everything we need. The road to Kerrville is now open so we can re-supply. Power and water are out but we're getting by on generator. Our utility company is hard at work restoring power.
Thanks again to all of great friends and family. by @bigricktx
