seriously - if 90% improved is the best it gets, so be it! and in the meantime, i’m going to continue to try and catch stuff like this, call it out, and get it gone. 🧠 #ocd #tms #anxiety #mentalhealth by @bigsisterheather

about me: i am happy to be alive. i feel pretty.

2 things i didn’t believe a few months ago.

accurate diagnosis and treatment makes all the difference. the constant anxiety that’s been ringing in my ears, stinging my eyes since i can remember? the feelings of loneliness that extended beyond this known universe? the screaming inner voice that constantly berated me for existing ‘incorrectly’? it wasn’t depression. it wasn’t actually anxiety. guys, i had severe obsessive-compulsive disorder.

what makes me so confident in this diagnosis however, is not my own recognition of behaviors as compulsive. it wasn’t an online quiz or even having grown up with multiple immediate family members who display or have a diagnosis of obsessive-compulsive disorders.

i got it treated first. i underwent TMS, a procedure that has radically changed my life for the absolute best. what did it do? it turned the voice OFF. i no longer have to ‘ask’ a mirror for permission to leave my house. i don’t think in circles for hours at a time. i don’t hate myself.

healing is possible, even when you don’t know what’s really going on yet.

i’m excited to be here — and i’m glad you are too. by @bigsisterheather
