Billboard Africa went behind the scenes at the inaugural GIA Social Club in London, where Girls in Afrobeats brought together women working across music, media, management, marketing and the wider creative industry.

Founded by Stephanie Adamu, the event created space for meaningful connections, shared experiences and recognition, including a special spotlight on music industry professional Rosie Ogazi.

A look inside an evening celebrating the women building, connecting and shaping the future of Afrobeats.

Exactly a year ago, I was told that I am too assertive, too aggressive, and that my energy is shining too bright.
Being a woman in the music industry is challenging especially in Afrobeats. We’ve all been in rooms full of people who overlook or underestimate us, but let me tell you this! We are the backbone of this culture. Our energy, our passion, and our resilience are what move this industry forward.
We are not here to shrink or dim our light. We are here to accelerate change, to disrupt the status quo, and to create a lasting impact that will be felt for years to come.

So, to all the women out there, keep pushing, keep rising, and keep being unapologetically YOU. Your power, your vision, and your influence matter.

A week later and Amsterdam is still on our minds! 🇳🇱💗

The room, the people, the conversations and the connections. AfroSounds Beyond Borders was a reminder of what can happen when the right people come together with a shared vision for the culture.

Thank you again @poortstage, @rcvrydrinks and @exoriadrink for being part of the experience and to everyone who came through and made the day what it was.

Amsterdam, until next time.

Taking @GirlsinAfrobeats to Amsterdam was a special moment for me. Seeing that vision come to life with so many incredible women in one room, reminded me exactly why this work matters. 🇳🇱

As Afrobeats continues to grow across Europe, it’s important that we’re not just part of the conversation, but that we’re making ourselves seen and heard.

Through GiA, we want to keep building those connections across borders, strengthening the Afrobeats ecosystem in Europe and creating more opportunities for women to grow together.

Thank you to every speaker and guest who showed up and poured into the room, and to @richmondmediagroup for helping bring this to life.

@connsings @jessyrichmond @nkiafaithkendra thank you for helping make this happen. ❤️✨

Everyone is talking about the growth of Afrobeats. But are we building the industry to sustain it?

@bigstefik Founder & Strategic Director of Girls in Afrobeats, takes the conversation further at AFROSOUNDS BEYOND BORDERS with her keynote, “The Opportunity Ahead.”

With 13+ years across music, culture and marketing, Stefi has worked across the UK, Africa, Europe and North America. She’ll be exploring where the opportunities lie for Afrobeats in Europe and what we need to build next to support the genre’s continued growth.

GiA Social Club is an extension of the wider mission behind @girlsinafrobeats making access, community and opportunity more tangible for women across Afrobeats.

There’s so much talent across our industry. Sometimes, the biggest barrier is simply knowing who to speak to and getting into the room.

It was amazing to see women at different stages of their careers in the same room all contributing to the growth of Afrobeats in the UK and internationally.

Thank you to everyone who attended, my team and to our incredible partners @martellofficial @createbarsandevents @aethoslondon @steeloapp for helping us bring the vision to life. 💙🥃
