CAPSTONE VIDEO IS HERE 🌟 René | Dak Naam & Rebirth traces my evolving relationship with dance—one shaped by distance, questioning, and rediscovery. Once a source of comfort, culture, and expression, dance in college began to feel disconnected from the instinctive, rooted practice I once knew. Naturally, I turned toward other art forms—fashion, film, photography—allowing new modes of storytelling to challenge and expand me. This work is grounded in the idea of dak naam, a Bengali concept of a personal, intimate name within the family. “René,” my own dak naam, is inspired by the word “renaissance,” meaning rebirth. This piece lives within that meaning. It captures a return—not to what dance once was, but to what my love of art can become. Set to Tu Jhoom, a Sufi composition of devotion and acceptance, the work unfolds in a trance-like state. Through repetition, spinning, and release, I reconnect with my body, mind, and spirit—moving beyond expectation and validation. This piece asks: how do I continue to honor dance—and myself—when the artistic path forward is uncertain? I hope you enjoy!

বিদেশী | Someone from Another Country 🎞️

Thank you so much to everyone who came to our student film screening AXIAL TILT by @video2.mov 🥳 Creating this debut short film has been an incredible opportunity to weave together elements of Bengali identity and history to tell a story of the diaspora that I’ve never been able to fully express before. I am deeply grateful to my professor, Luis Arnias, for supporting me throughout this creative process and development journey. If you’d like to watch the film, the link is in my bio!
