Same view, three weeks apart 👉🏻🌿

Not the most dramatic before-and-after I’ve ever shared, but sometimes it’s the little changes that feel the most magical.

Everything has absolutely burst into life over the past few weeks, and the cottage garden is finally starting to fill out exactly as I’d hoped.

Heart of the Home 🏡

Our entire barn renovation has revolved around the kitchen, with a vision of shaker style cabinets (which had to be green!), a vaulted ceiling, exposed beams and french doors looking out onto the garden. I don’t know about you but I couldn’t imagine this space being anything other than the kitchen now 🥰

PS… can you believe Summer Solstice is only two days away?

A little update… It’s been a while 🫶🏻

After three years of renovating almost every spare minute, we decided to take a little step back this summer. It’s been so nice to visit places that didn’t involve a trip to the builders’ merchants!

DIY has slowed down, but I think we’re finally learning that not everything needs to be finished immediately.

There are still plenty of things to show you, though… including the new log store, a very nearly finished ensuite and maybe even some upstairs rooms at some point.

I’m looking forward to catching up with you all 💚

Postcards from the barn 🌿🕯️🍐

A few snapshots from this month - lots of time spent in the garden, the vegetable beds are coming along nicely, and plenty of evenings eating outside.

There’s something so special about coming home to roses in bloom by the front door.

These were already here when we bought the barn, but over the past few years they’ve absolutely thrived - and honestly, I think this is the best they’ve ever looked.

If you’ve been thinking about adding a rose around your entrance… consider this your sign!

Here are some of the things we considered when designing our kitchen to create a contemporary country feel…

🪵 Exposed beams - we kept the Oak beams visible to add warmth, texture and architectural interest, helping to soften the cleaner lines of the kitchen.

🌾 Natural materials - we paired natural limestone flooring with solid brass light switches and sockets, along with a classic fluted double Belfast sink to create a timeless, tactile feel that complements the character of the barn.

🌿 A soft colour palette - we chose a muted sage green for the cabinetry and layered in greenery through plants, artwork and accessories to keep the space feeling fresh and relaxed.

🌷 Layered textiles and pattern - floral Roman blinds, a shearling armchair and a gingham table runner add softness, texture and interest, helping the kitchen feel warm and lived-in.
