For #Pride this year,I want to share with you a project that holds a special place in my heart. I had the honor of working on the internal manifesto for @mickysweho , one of the oldest and most iconic gay bars in LA in 2021. It was a project that celebrated queerness, inclusivity, and acceptance. But as I was asked to rework the video for online posting a year later, I realized just how much has changed. Trans* rights are being stripped back, conservatism is on the rise, and laws banning drag are popping up across the states. It’s a dimmer reality than the positivity we felt a year ago. It’s important for all of us to remember just how much we’ve fought for, but also how easy it is to lose it all if we don’t keep being loud and proud. We need to continue to support and celebrate queer culture, and I’m grateful to #mickysweho for entrusting me with this project. Major shoutout to my best Judy @wassimelhaddad and @kareem_nakkash for the additional footage #PrideMonth #MotionDesign #MadeWithEnvato #JuneMWE by @bilalwh
