Had two big dead sweet gums to cut up and was screwing around with little homeowner saws to great sweat and little result, so I rented the big boy. Took like 30 minutes of cutting like it was butter to turn it into firewood. Best $50 I’ve spent all year. by @billipsmike

Score! The tub, soap dish, and toilet roll dispenser in my fabulous ‘50s bathroom are, under the ugly white paint I plan to strip off, pink. But the toilet and sink are more recent updates and I plan to get rid of them. Found someone who is gutting a gorgeous old doctor’s ranch in the fanciest part of Buckhead, and snagged TWO pink 1970s (edit: 1950s!) sinks off them for $60 total. I only need one, but proper MCM stuff like this can run $150 a pop, so I’ll likely turn a profit by selling the spare. I’m going to put the one I keep in a single vanity, with a boomerang Formica countertop, which gives me room for a big, tall bathroom storage shelf beside the sink. by @billipsmike

Man, they made some wacky movies in old Hollywood. A murdered dog returns from animal purgatory to earth disguised as Dick Powell to solve his murder and protect his mistress from the killer. Oh, and the dog was really rich and Peggy Dow inherited his money. by @billipsmike

Gutter got mangled a wee bit but nothing I can’t sort with a body hammer and some pliers. The mulberry tree saved the house from any other damage but I’m afraid i’m going to have to drastically prune it. They’re very soft and bendy and tend to stay bent. by @billipsmike

Poor old tree was more vines than tree. First 10-12 feet gone and now it gets trickier as I try to trim it short enough that it rolls off but misses the air conditioner. I built a guard on top of the AC compressor but hope it’s unnecessary. Taking a battery charge break; electric chainsaws do involve a fair amount of resting and rehydrating. by @billipsmike

The tree looks fuzzy like that because it was covered in giant English ivy vines until a couple years ago. Probably what killed it. by @billipsmike

Dozens of wasps, carpenter bees, honey bees were all over this stuff. It’s a kind of wild grape and an invasive, prolific weed, but bugs go nuts for its flowers. by @billipsmike
