Dear Diary,

As we were entering the VIP area of the Ramones 50th Anniversary Tribute at the Hollywood Forever Cemetery, so was Billy Zoom, the guitarist of the legendary Los Angeles punk band X.

When Mr. Zoom noticed that he and I were wearing the same OG Ramones t-shirt, the rockstar said to me before shaking my hand,
“Cool fashion.”

To which I replied probably too quickly,
“I’m a really big fan.”

Mr. Zoom then gave me a squinty cowboy glare and whispered Clint Eastwood-ly,
“Well, you don’t look so big to me.”

Dear Diary,

I think our favorite part of the amazing Ramones 50th Anniversary Tribute at the Hollywood Forever Cemetery had to be when Billy Idol joined the Cretin Family onstage for a few songs to close out the incredible show.
We died and went to heaven.

That Linda Ramone sure knows how to throw a party.

Dear Diary,

There were loads of go-go dancers at the Abbey Saturday night. All denominations. They just kept coming. No repeats. All beautiful.
Although none more beautiful than Gabriel.

I’ll never know if Gabriel got a second spin on the Abbey main stage or if there was someone impossibly even more beautiful than Gabriel awaiting his moment backstage Saturday night because Todd was being a jerk and I therefore decided to walk back to the hotel alone even though I was drunk.
I was so mad at Todd I didn’t turn around once to see if he cared enough to follow me.

On my way home, there were loads of lit bars on Santa Monica Boulevard pumping and jumping and overflowing with hot stuff go-go boys.
A balmy summer evening.
No cover charges.
It probably would have been really fun and funny for us to hit them all, but I’ll never know.

Dear Diary,

At the Falcon Ink event at Book Soup, Todd ran into Sister Roma, a long lost friend from Todd’s San Francisco days and nights.

Sister Roma took a wonderful selfie with Todd, and Todd proudly texted me the image.

While framing the pic for an Instagram story, I spent considerable time struggling to figure out a way to erase two unsightly old gays who were cluttering up the photograph’s background.

Then I finally realized the unsightlier of the two old gays was me.

Dear Diary,

Saturday afternoon, we inadvertently found ourselves at a glamorous and supercool book signing not far from our hotel in West Hollywood.
The bookstore was packed with handsome and hunky men, many of whom were legendary movie stars.

Dear Diary,

My genius friend Carter Smith gifted me two hard copies of his new and absolutely amazing Backwoods Boys zines. They arrived in brown paper by USPS Saturday.
Carter is an old friend as well as an incredible filmmaker and photographer, and his dark and moody Backwoods Boys—starring Kodiak and Dan—are a menacing joy. They really go there.
And by go there, I mean they are totally hot and wildly freaky and full-on filthy.
FULL-ON FILTHY.
In ways that might make one feel bad later.
Which, of course, is the best.
I wish more friends sent me porn in the mail.

On Thursday September 3rd, Todd and I are driving up to San Francisco to attend the opening of a show of Carter’s Backwoods Boys photographs at the Bob Mizer Museum and Photographic Archives.
We sincerely hope that we are able to meet some of the Backwoods Boys in the flesh.

Dear Diary,

This past Thursday, I got a message from the legendary DJ, superstar rockstar and international fashion icon Honey Dijon.
HONEY. FUCKING. DIJON.

As she and I were going back and forth, I was imagining where the glamorous Ms. Dijon was writing from.
Maybe she was backstage at a VIP only rave on some private jet set resort beach in Ibiza, stealing a well deserved break between sets to iron out the beats of a fabulous new song about to make its debut.
Perhaps she was in lingerie and stilettos removing her makeup in a high design, disco deluxe Parisian hotel suite bathroom, pooped out but still gorgeous after a serious evening of cutting edge nightclubbing.
One could envision her on the terrace of an oligarch’s billion dollar Manhattan skyscraper penthouse after being flown in from Tokyo to perform at a runaway heiress’s 21st birthday party. Ms. Dijon might have been taking a moment to consider the effects of champagne on jet lag as well as the pros and cons of dangerously down to the wire last minute airport limousine pick ups.

When I first received Ms. Dijon’s text, I was in the process of folding laundry and wondering why Todd’s socks never match.

Dear Diary,

California Sun.

We had immediately rsvp’d YES upon receiving our invite to the Ramones Tribute being held at the end of the month at the Hollywood Forever Cemetery, so right away we scheduled a rock and roll LA road trip for next week.
And we can’t wait.
This is the sort of thing we do now that we are living our best lives on the West Coast.

We are blessed to have close friends like the glamorous and fabulous Linda Ramone, and we are excited to finally experience one of her legendary Ramones events.
Although we obviously look forward to the punk supergroup Cretin Family performance and the John Travolta double feature, we are especially grateful to have the opportunity to celebrate our very missed pal Johnny Ramone and remember all the good times we had back when we were all New Yorkers.
