reading the feelings a painting conceals

Sometimes we do not spend words to express ourselves. But we still want to be understood. The things we bottle up hurt our throats. This artwork by Billura Alakbarli expresses precisely what we want to say but remain silent about. Sometimes we stay silent, but we still want to be understood. These layers remind me of the words that build up inside us, the ones we cannot bring ourselves to say. We want to say something, then fall silent, thinking we will not be understood. These marks remind me of the sentences we leave unfinished; even when we cross them out, a trace remains.

The traces in the lower part seem to recall the words we say silently. A manifestation of softly interpreted feelings that we create to conceal and soothe the words we do not want to say. The diagonal traces lead my eye from the lower left to the upper right. This is why there is movement in the artwork alongside its heaviness. It is as though something within the surface is shifting, trying to emerge.

Art is a way for people to express themselves. When words run out, we express ourselves through art. by @bilusch_

Reallıq rəqəmsal texnologiyaların təsiri ilə necə dəyişir?
Billurə Ələkbərlinin @bilusch_ “Hissi-hissə” əsərində güzgülər ətrafımızdakı reallığı pikselizə edir və deformasiya edir. Əsər süni intellekt və reallıq arasındakı getdikcə silinən sərhədə diqqət çəkir.

How does reality change under the influence of digital technologies?
In Billura Alakbarli’s @bilusch_ “Part by part”, mirrors pixelate and deform the reality around us. The work draws attention to the increasingly blurred boundary between artificial intelligence and reality. taken in Painting Museum by @bilusch_

An excerpt from the documentary Agnes Martin: With My Back to the World by Mary Lance

I’m developing more understanding of Agnes as I read about her and also understanding more about her paintings and mystery that’s felt behind them. I can understand better now the weight of her paintings. Even though they are so light they carry such immense weight. And that’s like her insistence on joy, purity and happiness. Because those states are so impossible that she only catches them for a moment. And the impossibility lies in that moment made permanent. There is so much tension accumulated in that moment for it staying as permanent. The tension creates that weight. That it should not be, not exist yet it does. I think I would start crying because of all the tension. And then maybe after that I would be able to accept the permanence of that moment. by @bilusch_
