A tale of two trips to the Discovery Center.
September 2019, I’m so proud of this momma, doing the best she could with what she had but she was so uncomfortable. Struggling to keep up with the kids & doing her dang best.

I know where you are today, momma. I want to be that fun mom! I am that fun mom!
Will you contend for that with me?
I’ve felt what it is to be uncomfortable and loose my confidence in myself. I’ve felt what it is to move freely and confidently and I chose to contend for that today. 💕 by @bindy_joy

Today is a mix of everything.
A lot of thoughts.

It’s Happy Birthday church ⛪️ 🙏 celebrating numbers 🥳 while simultaneously holding the hardness of humanity.

It’s using gifts, talents, & opening a closed fist around those gifts to be grown and stretched toward more.

Random: I miss Bluegrass Sundays in Winfield. 🪕🎻 🪕 😍
There is nothing else like it.
—I wonder if Miss Dolly is having bluegrass Sunday now… or all the time?—

It’s that good - Sunday-Afternoon-Nap-tired, when you know you’ve been spent, in _so_ many ways …

I hope I can continue to be a learner.

I hope I never become hardened in my craft or ever act or behave like I can’t learn any more.
There is so much more to learn.

I want to continue to turn the other cheek where humanity is concerned.

Remind me of this when I get too big for my britches.

Thankful, Grateful, Blessed - these words seem so small when I describe how I feel about our church.

Truly, it’s why we are here 📍⛪️ & that may seem really strange to many of you.
Hear me out.

We walked into the doors of Velocity Church for the first time in late 2018.
We were broken. Desperate for respite & anonymity.
But we were met with fresh faces who for a moment, in the lobby of The Arts Center, genuinely cared that we were there.
People took notice of each of our five kids.
They asked about our lives & we felt seen and cared for!

I was elated! Oddly, I felt at ease in a new & obscure place. Contemporary art on the walls.

Turns out, that wasn’t just a one-off Sunday when everyone was on their best behavior.
This was the standard. And this was church. But different.

This weekend, we celebrate 15 years since the official launch of Velocity!
Fifteen years of building God’s church… in Lawrence Kansas.

It does not make sense why our family is here. Why have we chosen to stay here.
Until you know …. 📍We Win Together!
