@lafixitclinic brought our community together for an incredible day of hands-on repair and shared learning! In just three hours, we helped approximately 60 people repair their items, build confidence, and develop practical troubleshooting skills. I tackled all kinds of repair challenges, including an air fryer, water cooler, cell phone, and a steam iron! 🤣

It was inspiring to connect with so many community members, share knowledge, and learn from one another. Together, we’re keeping useful items out of landfills and building a more sustainable future—one repair at a time! 🔧♻️ #diy #mrfixit #community taken in Lancaster, California by @binhtri_vu

Fix-It-Friday!!! This week we’re fixing my mom’s washing machine that sprung a leak. I stopped by her house to diagnose the leak and came back to repair it when the parts arrived. It turned out to be a simple water inlet valve. Parts were only $45 and I saved my mom from a $350 service call. No more leaks! 😎 #diy #blackbeltgarage #appliancerepair taken in Montebello, California by @binhtri_vu

Fix-It-Friday!!!! Made lots of progress on the bathroom remodel. Ran wire for the heated flooring and installed the lighting for the vanity, shower, and shower niche. I also screwed the Schluter board to the studs and got about 80% of the waterproofing done. The learning curve on this has been STEEP! Crawling around in a 120° attic and being all itchy from fiberglass insulation pulling wire was not fun 🤣 #diy #homeimprovements #remodel #pitbull #adoptdontshop taken in Rancho Vista by @binhtri_vu

Our work somehow caught the attention of Congress… and landed us on the front pages of The Wall Street Journal, The LA Times, AND Politico. 🤣📰

Definitely not the kind of publicity we were expecting, but I couldn’t be prouder of the work we did and the team I got to do it with. 🫡 #taxman #jets #government #teamwork #appraisal taken in Los Angeles, California by @binhtri_vu

Quick story from Home Depot. I was there with Marbles when an HVAC salesperson came up, petted her, and started chatting. Then came the questions: “Do you own your home?” and “How old is your HVAC system?”

I told her it’s about 25 years old. She immediately said it was inefficient, that I was probably breathing in dirt and debris, and wasting a lot of electricity.

I respectfully explained that I handle all of my own HVAC maintenance, keep the system in excellent shape, and that my energy costs are already extremely low. When I mentioned my electric bills, she asked if I had solar. I told her I have solar and a Tesla Powerwall. In fact, this month Edison credited my account a little over $6.

At that point, the only way my HVAC system could cost less is if Edison paid me even more. 😂

I also mentioned that HVAC systems are sealed, so replacing the oil isn’t routine maintenance. If it’s losing oil or refrigerant, that’s a bigger issue. She continued with the same sales script, so I stayed polite, thanked her for her time, and eventually moved on.

If you’re gonna ask to pet my dog 🐶 and then try to sell me something, I might ACTUALLY buy it… but not this time. 🤣 #HVAC #homedepot #adoptdontshop #pitbull #blackbeltgarage taken in The Home Depot by @binhtri_vu
