Heya! I'm doing a few OHM shows in the near future. First off I'll be in Hannover this weekend for @ueberschlag_festival. Next up I'll premiere the standalone installation version I'm working on, in my hometown Utrecht at @gaudeamusnl festival. Then @pltheaters Heerlen en @meervaart theater in Amsterdam. Frank Wienk a.k.a. BINKBEATSmusic is equally at home in the world of contemporary composed music - he performs in ensembles such as HIIIT - as in the world of electronic music. At Gaudeamus Festival 2024, he’s all over the programme: an installation version of his piece ‘OHM’ can be seen from Thursday to Saturday, on Sunday he performs the piece himself, and on Thursday he gives a keynote in the context of the NIME conference for instrument inventors that we are co-organising in the same week as the festival. Frank Wienk aka binkbeats is known for his progressive compositions which explore the boundaries between acoustic and electronic music.

For his new project, OHM, the Dutch beat artist has collaborated with the multidisciplinary artist Henk Schut. His electro-acoustic objects, combined with ritual percussion and influences from modern dance music, form the basis for an immersive experience.

Dat zie je niet vaak: publiek óp het podium tijdens een concert! Maar tijdens de show van @binkbeats gebeurde het toch echt. 🙌 We kregen een voorproefje van zijn nieuwe album ‘OHM’ en namen een kijkje in een vernieuwende wereld waar elektro-akoestische tonen, ritule percussie én moderne dans elkaar ontmoeten. 🎶
