Snyder School alumna Alissa Rooney (‘18) co-produced this interview with Brett Pawlak, the cinematographer of Spider-Man: Brand New Day. The movie is now the highest-grossing film of all time in North America, surpassing Star Wars: The Force Awakens.

Alissa has been a working professional cinematographer since graduating from Biola in 2018, including a 5.5 year run as a full-time, in-house cinematographer for Adobe. Alissa continues to shoot narrative films, commercials, and documentaries as a freelance cinematographer.

« This shoot was particularly meaningful to me, as Brett has been a sort of mentor to me for the last ten years, ever since I reached out to him in freshman year at Biola! »

New facility, same Snyder School spirit.

On August 15th we welcomed over 250 Snyder School alumni spanning from the ‘90s through ‘26 back to campus for an exclusive first look at our brand-new studio facility.

From touring the studio with Dean Tom Halleen and Nate Bell to reconnecting with faculty, staff, and fellow alumni, to meeting new friends, the reunion was a joyous time.

While the gear and space have upgraded, our committment to equipping Christian storytellers remains unchanged. Thank you to everyone who came home to see where the future of the Snyder School is headed. Alumni please tag us in your photos and share your favorite memory from the reunion in the comments below!

Pay it forward to the next generation of Biolans!

Buying textbooks at the start of a new semester is seldom easy. For many current students, those costs add up fast. That’s why we're excited to promote the Biola Lending Library!

Located in Sutherland Hall, this student resource holds over 1,000 donated textbooks, providing course materials to students in need at zero cost.

Honestly, you probably have some slightly used textbooks on your shelf. You can make an immediate impact by paying it forward!

This is how you can contribute to the Lending Library:

Donate: Drop off your textbooks in the donation box at the Advising Center front desk in Sutherland Hall.

Snap & Share: Take a quick photo when you drop off your books and send it to us via direct message! We’d like to feature your donation on our page and highlight how our alumni continue to help Biolans thrive.

Questions about book donations? Shoot an email to academic.advising@biola.edu. Screenshot of Lending Library webpage. Graphic of 3 books. Short description of Lending Library service. taken in Biola University by @biola.alumni

This past Friday, Biola welcomed new students to campus! Our alumni engagement team showed up in a cool way with our alumni in tow to help welcome the new students to campus.

We had many of you helping to direct families to where they needed to be and answering questions. Some of you helped with different activities, and as you can see in the photo, alumni made an alumni tunnel heading toward Metzger Lawn before the communion service.

This was significant in that it was meant to show these freshmen and their families that our alumni are still connected to the university and they are here for the students.

Thank you so much to all of you who volunteered your time to make this special! We hope to see more of you for more events soon! 4 biola staff in front of alumni check in taken in Biola University by @biola.alumni

We just released a new alumni interview featuring Lizzie Hedrick (B.A. '11)! During her time at Biola, Lizzie served as president of Associated Students and that leadership still shines today. She is a Christ-honoring woman of God who shares great wisdom on how to navigate unexpected changes.

Currently, she and her husband Clark (B.A. '10) serve as wonderful ambassadors for Christ in Washington, D.C.

Visit the link in our bio or go to biola.edu/alumni to watch the interview. Then come back and tell us your favorite part in the comments! A portrait of Biola class of 2011 alumna, Lizzie Hedrick. taken in Biola University by @biola.alumni

💙 Calling All Nursing Alumni! 💙

Would you consider “adopting” a current Biola nursing student and encouraging them throughout nursing school?

The commitment is simple:
🩺 Pray for your student each week
🩺 Send a brief encouraging email once a month
🩺 Encourage and support them throughout their nursing journey

Your prayers and encouragement can make a meaningful difference as they prepare to serve as the hands and feet of Jesus. 💙

Interested? Send your email address and area of nursing expertise to anne.gewe@biola.edu. Please include your area of expertise, and we will do our best to match you with a student who shares your interests!

Please be mindful that this opportunity is centered around Christian prayer, encouragement, and supporting students in both their nursing journey and their walk with Jesus. We hope to hear from you soon and please contact anne.gewe@biola.edu with any questions! by @biola.alumni

Alumni from the ’90s and early ’00s are leading the pack as alumni volunteers for New Student Orientation! These new Biola Eagles coming onto campus for the first time will be blessed by the presence of our alumni who have gone before them.

Alumni from the ’80s, 2010s and 2020s, where are y’all 😁? We would love to see your eras represented as we provide some cool experiences for these new students.

This is what a Biola education produces.

School of Science, Technology and Health nursing alumnus Jacob Woo (‘21) recently cared for Talbot School of Theology Dean Ed Stetzer during a hospital stay.

While his clinical skill left an impression, it was his reflection on Biola that stood out most. Woo shared that spiritual formation wasn’t separate from his education. Praying with classmates and faculty was simply part of the culture, and that foundation continues to shape the way he serves patients today.

At Biola, we prepare graduates to pursue excellence in their professions while faithfully representing Christ wherever they’re called.

Thank you, Jacob, for living out that mission.
