First glimpse of 𝗕𝗜𝗣𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟲 - 𝗠𝗜𝗥𝗢𝗜𝗥 𝗠𝗜𝗥𝗢𝗜𝗥

From 17 October to 13 December 2026, the Biennale de l’Image Possible returns to Liège with a 14th edition dedicated to images as mirrors of the world, of others and of ourselves.

On the programme: the exhibition 𝗠𝗜𝗥𝗢𝗜𝗥 𝗠𝗜𝗥𝗢𝗜𝗥 at Les Chiroux, .𝙩𝙞𝙛𝙛 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟲 with FOMU, 𝗔𝗻𝗶𝗺𝗮𝗹𝘀 for younger audiences, and the BIP2026 OFF programme in Liège and its surroundings. Alongside talks, performances, workshops, guided tours, screenings and encounters.

BIP2026 opens today in Liège !

For its 14th edition, the Biennale de l’Image Possible returns to the former Chiroux Library with “Mirror, Mirror”, an exploration of contemporary images and the ways they shape how we see ourselves, others and the world around us.

Marking 200 years since the invention of photography, the programme brings together Belgian and international artists through photography, film, drawing and immersive visual, sound and digital installations.

From emerging photography with .tiff to reflections on disinformation in “Through the Looking Glass”, a large-scale portrait installation and “ANIMALS”, conceived for young audiences and families, BIP2026 approaches the image from multiple perspectives.

A biennale where images become mirrors — of identities, communities and a world in constant transformation.

👀 Exposition 17.10 👀

Vous ne le saviez pas, mais j’ai fugué mardi dernier.

Avec @romaincavallin, nous avons l’immense plaisir de vous inviter à découvrir notre prochaine exposition, qui ouvrira ses portes ce samedi 17 octobre à la @bipliege.

Un grand merci à @af.lesuisse de nous avoir invités à participer à cette édition Miroir Miroir de la Biennale de l’Image Possible.

Merci à @geoffreybourgeois pour son précieux travail d’édition autour des entretiens et des lettres des jeunes.

Merci à @lanombreuse, avec qui tout à commencé et qui permet ces ateliers.

Et surtout, un immense merci à tou.te.s les jeunes rencontré.e.s qui ont pris part à ce projet ainsi qu'à tous les conseillers laïques qui nous permettent de faire ce travail et d'être en lien avec elleux.

Focus sur « Earth Not a Globe » (2016-2025), une série de @philippebraquenier présentée à la @bipliege dès samedi !

Empruntant son titre à un ouvrage de Samuel Birley Rowbotham, figure fondatrice du mouvement platiste, Philippe Braquenier explore les mécanismes de fabrication des croyances et les codes visuels des théories complotistes.

Par des mises en scène, des manipulations et des montages, l’artiste fabrique ses propres « pièces à conviction ». Entièrement construites, notamment en studio, ses photographies empruntent les codes du documentaire pour donner l’illusion d’une réalité observée. Elles semblent attester de phénomènes réels, alors qu’elles reposent sur des dispositifs fictionnels.

En laissant visibles les traces de ses interventions, Philippe Braquenier révèle comment une image peut acquérir une apparence de vérité et servir à légitimer des discours.

The opening of the Biennale de l’Image Possible in Liège (@bipliege) is right around the corner and we’re happy to introduce Temitayo Olalekan (@waterandstamps) - the fourth curator selected to participate in ‘Through the Looking Glass: Carte blanche to young curators’. 🪞

Based in Marseille, Temitayo Olalekan (Nigeria, 1994) holds two master’s degrees from the University of Aix-Marseille and the École des Beaux-Arts de Marseille (France), as well as a diploma in curatorial studies from KASK Conservatorium (Belgium).

Faced with the erosion of trust in images and in the possibility of a shared reality, Temitayo’s exhibition, ‘eye the threshold’, ‘refrains from seeking a more stable truth or a restored authority of the image to counterbalance this crisis. The exhibition takes its starting point in the archive and conceives of it as an open, incomplete and constantly rewritten process, one that is constructed in the present.’ - BIP

Très heureuse de vous présenter « Élevage d’absences », une nouvelle exposition curatée à l'invitation de la @bipliege qui ouvrira ce samedi !

Avec @gwenola_wagon, @philippebraquenier et @mariequeau, et une scénographie conçue par @shift_entity.

À partir d’« Élevage de poussière », photographie réalisée par Man Ray en 1920 sur « Le Grand Verre » de Marcel Duchamp, l’exposition interroge nos rapports aux images, à leurs récits et aux incertitudes qu’elles produisent.

Dans un monde saturé d’images générées, manipulées, décontextualisées ou réinterprétées, comment faire sens ensemble ? Que peuvent encore nous apprendre les images lorsque leur capacité à faire preuve vacille ?

Entre documentaire, fiction et spéculation, les œuvres réunies explorent différentes formes d’absence : de certitude, de contexte, d’origine identifiable ou de récit partagé. Loin de constituer un manque, ces absences deviennent la matière à partir de laquelle se construisent des récits, des croyances et des imaginaires.

Une proposition pour cohabiter avec le trouble et envisager qu’il puisse, plutôt que de nous diviser, devenir un terrain commun propice aux rencontres et aux échanges.

This week we're pleased to introduce Thibaud Leplat (@thibaud_leplat) , a Brussels-based curator whose work explores the intersections between artistic practices and research.

🪞 Thibaud is one of four curators selected as result of an open call for young curators in Germany, France and Belgium to develop exhibitions on the themes of disinformation and visual manipulation. All four exhibitions will be on view at the Biennale de l'Image Possible in Liège (@bipliege), from 17 October until 13 December, within the scope of 'Through the Looking Glass: Carte blanche to young curators'.

Thibaud's exhibition, (a very deep fatigue), comes as a response to a generation whose experience of the image has been inextricably linked to its digital circulation.

(a very deep fatigue) explores the visual overload and effects of screens on our body while creating a tension between accumulation, spectacle and exhaustion.

Liège, c'est aussi une foule d'acteur.ices culturel.les et d'espaces d'exposition qui font vivre l'art à travers tout le territoire. La @bipliege en a rassemblés un grand nombre dans un OFF particulièrement fourni.
